05:23 PM ET 12.30 | Penn State Nittany Lions head coach Bill O'Brien has done a fantastic job in Happy Valley. Taking over after the university was devastated by the Jerry Sandusky scandal and the firing and death of Joe Paterno, O'Brien has gone 15-9 in two seasons. In fact, O'Brien may have done too good of a job. According to reports, the Houston Texans will reach a deal to make O'Brien their next head coach within the next 24 hours. That means Penn State will once again be searching for a coach and according to the rumors swirling, current Vanderbilt Commodores head coach James Franklin is their top target.

I guess they want a coach who has experience dealing with rape scandals.

Everyone please calm down. Bill O'Brien hasn't done anything. He won 13 games in 2 years. Lane Kiffin averages 6.5 wins per season in his sleep, but everyone came down hard on him for only winning 7 games in a season, after winning 10 the season before. Bill O'Brien has never won 10 games in a season. Why isn't Lane Kiffin getting hired by the Texans? Oh I get it now, moment of clarity. The Texans and O'Brien both suck.

They deserve each other.

He would do a better job than Paterno in covering them up.

Franklin is on Texas' short ... according to the incredibly annoying ESPN ticker scrolling at the bottom of the screen.

Yeah, hire O'Brien and draft Manziel - more years of misery for the Texans guaranteed.

Earlier in the day it sounded like PSU was going after Schiano. Hopefully they stopped that crazy talk.

...and so is Briles and Jimbo Fisher and one other guy they have no chance of getting. Do they just call Kirk Herbstreit to name his favorite coaches and then just put it on the scroll like it means something? Why wasn't Gruden and Mora on there?!? And Saban. Texas could buy his contract out for 100 million.

Penn state routinely plays 4 lightweights in their OOC games and goes 4-4 in the very mediocre B1G and all of a sudden O'Brien is a hot commodity.

O'Brien is all but gone to Houston. Why would Franklin want the PSU mess? What about Schiano?
