05:25 PM ET 12.30 | Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo has been out since Jan. 25 after partially tearing his ACL. Rondo is nearing a return and the Celtics may decide to make a rather unorthodox move in Rondo's rehab by placing him in the NBA's Developmental League. The Celtics' D-League affiliate is the Maine Red Claws. This would be a big surprise to everyone because NBA doesn't usually send veteran players, especially those of all-star quality like Rondo down to the D-League for rehab. However, it is a common practice in other sports, namely Major League Baseball.

No way he wont go the D League route to start getting his legs back, he will come when he's ready to play in the NBA

Why? Probably more dangerous in the dleague because every player is gonna play hard against a star....

That's a risk they have to take if they're going to pull off this stunt - which is basically a scheme to allow the Celts to tank.

I think they're not tanking. The NY team are trying hard not to tank but they're tanking.

Brooklyn can't afford a #1 pick! They'll have to trade it for 37 year old veterans.
