07:27 AM ET 12.31 | First-year Boston Celtics head coach Brad Stevens sparked speculation on Monday that star point guard Rajon Rondo might continue his rehab as a member of the Maine Red Claws. If so, the four-time NBA All-Star would be the highest-profile player to ever appear in the Development League. Rondo hasn't played since having surgery for a torn ACL last February. Stevens told Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe after Monday's practice that Rondo playing for Maine "is a possibility for sure" and has "been discussed." But Will McClaran, director of public and community relations for the Red Claws, said he had heard nothing about Rondo joining the team. It was also news to Jeff Twiss, vice president of media relations for the Celtics.

Why? It doesn't make sense unless they want him to play 30-40 minutes a game to simulate real game actions. He can easily play w/ the Cs and the coach can control his minutes.

so are they tanking or trying to win ?

It's not like having Rondo 'hold back' and playing at 75% is gonna cost the Celtics a game or two and endanger their playoff/championship hopes......

The only thing sending him to Maine will do is jack up their attendance for a game or two. He11.....they may actually fill their 2500 seat 'stadium' (pis-ses off Red Claw fans.....).

The LA Lakes could use Rondo on point to help Kobe, along with Bynum, Gasol, and Odom for starters.
