Yankees have no interest in Drew

07:32 AM ET 01.01 | At least according to one report, a potential suitor for Stephen Drew has officially dried up. The Yankees already have Derek Jeter and Brendan Ryan on their roster, giving them little incentive to sign [Drew]. Beyond that, they badly need starting pitchers far more than another shortstop. Whatever slim chance there was has vanished, according to Peter Gammons. He reported on Twitter that Brian Cashman said the Yankees would not be signing Drew. The Red Sox have said for months they would be interested in Drew returning. The longer he remains a free agent, the more leverage the Red Sox gain. Outside of the Mets, no other team is known to be considering Drew. Of course, agent Scott Boras could scare up a team at any time. As other free agents sign, teams will shift their priorities and interest could pick up.

Your boy Boras isn't going to get you a multi year deal you are looking for Drew, one of the reasons is your tooth pick batting average, so team would lose a draft pick for signing you, so go back to Boston sign a one year deal, and try it again next winter for the big bucks.

Yep. Time to put the tail between the legs and go home to the Red Sox. No way they make any offer a year from now for that $13 million to keep you another year. If they do-take it! No draft pick for you next year. Better chance of moving on. You may/will be traded during the season however. So rent, do not buy.

The Red Sox need him, at their price, as insurance if Middlebrooks or Boegarts can't handle the job. If they both measure up, then some team will need SS help during the season and Drew can be traded, for immediate help if needed, or for some prospects.
Boras will try to save face, however, so he can make a mess of this!

according to Boras the yankees are very interested in Drew but who its telling the truth here??

In addition to a lot of money, the team has to also give up a first round pick!! That maybe. Too much!!

I think if Drew resigns with Boston, Boegarts moves to 3B, and Middlebrooks is traded or sent back to AAA.

Drew did a fine job on offense and defense last season, and it's probably worth keeping Will around in case somebody gets hurt if they can't trade him for some real value. As a Bosox fan, I'd be very happy with Drew coming back on a reasonable deal.

Good possibility, but with his power they will want to give Middlebrooks a chance to show he can move past his sophomore slump. If not, then trade him.

Minnesota is interested in Drew. They'll pay him what Bosox will. Just a year less on contract.
