Tanaka wooed with free parking space?

07:34 AM ET 01.01 | Money, of course, talks -- and it will likely be the primary factor in Masahiro Tanaka's decision, though perhaps not the only factor. Yesterday I posted an article from Sanspro that a friend of Cubs Den reader Eddie was nice enough to translate for us. In that article, I posted the first half, but the second half of that article posted some of the more creative ways teams are trying to lure Tanaka. The article relayed some interesting proposals... Those proposals include (1) golf club memberships for Tanaka and his wife, (2) seven day break during the Japanese Golden Week [which is during the first week of May], (3) infinite amount of name cards, (4) set a toilet seat with heating functions in the club house, (5) the Ace Number "1" for his jersey, (6) free parking space.

Money (lots of it) and chance to win - that's what it will take.
Cubs - no.
Yankees - maybe but not likely.
Dodgers - possible
Rangers - likely
Red Sox - likely

If you are relying upon a heated toilet seat to lure Tanaka, you might want to revisit your game plan.

Why not the Yankees? They have the strongest need.
Culturally, NYC is a place where he can find many other countrymen, not so in Boston or Dallas.

Boston has shown no interest, and thankfully so. I do believe they'll sit this one out.

Cubs have a very long history of not caring if they win or not, as long as Cub fan continues to support that terrible product, it won't change anytime soon and Tanaka won't sign unless all he wants is cash. I would think Seattle and Boston would be on his list, and Boston already has a few Japanese players to ease the transition.

No - am I underestimating the value of a luxury toilet seat?

Frankly, I don't think he gives a crap about a toilet seat.

I had heard the same thing and it was on the SI web site.

So take that info with a grain of salt as we see how spot on they are around here.

How sad! You mean in all of Chicago they could not find one virgin to throw in to the deal?

The kid most likely cannot pronounce "Wriggly," maybe that is the hold up. It would be fun to listen to though.

Free parking? Whathte? He doesn't even have a license to drive in this country. Maybe a season pass to a Sushi Bar would be a better carrot to dangle?

I can't remember, sorry to say. It was something on mlbtraderumors.com

What's up with the icon? I was about to say that you look fetching wearing it until I looked closer.
