Harbaugh mulling a week on the road

07:05 AM ET 01.02 | In Jim Harbaugh's first two seasons, he decided to keep his 49ers on the road between games out East. There's a possibility the 49ers could face the Carolina Panthers in Charlotte, N.C., one week after opening the NFC playoffs on the road Sunday against the Green Bay Packers. So would Harbaugh keep the 49ers on road if they were forced to travel in the divisional round of the playoffs to face the NFC South winner? "I've given it some thought," Harbaugh said on Monday. And has he made a decision? "No," Harbaugh said. "I'll keep you posted." If the wild-card New Orleans Saints defeat the Philadelphia Eagles on Saturday, a 49ers victory over the Packers would send the 49ers to Carolina in the next round of the playoffs.

Might be good to keep them sequestered throughout the playoffs. Keep away the bimbos and the cops, and more importantly the so called media.

All SF has to do is pound the rock with Gore or let Kaep run all over one of the bottom rush defenses in the league. They can chew up clock and win a low scoring game.

And no Matthews for GB with his little hurt thumb.

The Saints are a terrible road team, especially in the playoffs. So I'm sure Las Vegas probably has the Saints as underdogs.

The 49ers on the other hand are a good road team, they have won their last 3 contests against G.B..

If you are a player in the NFL and for some reason weather is an obstacle to how you perform then maybe you shouldn't be in the NFL. Apparently G.B. did not consider whether or not Clay Mathews or Aaron Rodger both California boys from sunny climates would be able to play winter games in Green Bay .

I am a Packer fan and yeah......they have no chance. They haven't been able to set the edge on D in like 2 years. It's not getting fixed this week.

The 49ers decision will be made for them depending on whether or not New Orleans wins. The Saints win and the 49ers will travel and stay on the East Coast somewhere.

You might want to make a decision soon or your administrative staff will be grumbling trying to arrange everything at the last minute.

49ers have a better pass rush than Bears and that was the difference in last week's game. 49er D-lineman puts Rodgers down on the tundra, game over. Money's on 49ers.

The 49ers can do a lot of things better than the Bears did last Sunday. Home games at Lambeau aren't the lock for the Packers they once were. It should be a great game.

I disagree. Running game + stout defense = victory

Cutler contract done for 7. Quicker than I thought, but no surprise.

But they did have to consider that in Troy Aikman's case. He said flat out before the draft he wouldn't play in/for GB. Weather is definitely an obstacle, otherwise teams would neither prepare for nor build their teams around it.

Obviously he is not concerned about beating a Packer team that has no defense to speak of. The bad news for the fans, after this loss next year will be horrid as the Lions and Vikes move up the NFC board with talent and defense.

Rodgers is one of the best cold weather QBs in the league. His injuries were the result of him holding the ball too long. He has always done this. But the guys missed 8 games in like 8 years.

And you have to consider QB's in the weather because thats when arm strength matters. That's why Manning isnt as good in the cold.

A lot faster than what I thought, too.

I'm listening to Phil Emery and Marc Trestman talking with the media about Chicago's season. Phil ain't happy about the defense and is taking his share of the blame, but he also strongly hints that the defensive coaching staff did not live up to their end of the deal. The first question for Trestman mentioned Mel Tucker by name, but Trestman wouldn't say anything specific about his assistant coaches.

They've got the best QB in the game...there's always a chance.
