07:12 AM ET 01.02 | The Carmelo Anthony Watch has been on for some time, and while he has said some of the right things in the process, speculation persists. [Anthony's] former teammate needed just a few seconds to ponder the question and deliver a definitive answer. "I think he's leaving. I've played with Melo for a long time and he knows he can't win here. At this stage, all he wants to do is win. That's why he'll leave." The Knicks begin the new year with the same old problems -- an injury-depleted roster, underperforming players, a losing record and a cloud of uncertainty over Anthony's future with the club. ... Anthony's former teammate, who requested anonymity, echoed the thoughts of several people close to Anthony who believe he's ready to leave.

Who would sign him? If he wants to go to a contender he will need to take a big pay cut. Not sure his ego would allow that?

Melo to Houston for Asik and Lin.

Maybe a 3 team deal that moves Chandler also.

They only NY team winning anything this year is Syracuse. Does Melo have any eligibility left???

Chicago?......

No thanks.

He's a 'black hole' when he gets the ball.....and he plays no defense. Thibs ain't gonna have any of that foolishness.....

'Melo is the latter-day incarnation of Allan Iverson. Great skills, but not a team player.

January 2, 2014  08:39 AM ET

Why would a team trade for this guy now? I know some fans are begging for him to get traded to the their team...

just cause your mighty mights are the hottest team in teh league....

you are asking a silly question.
like him or not- the dude is a proven scorer
there would literally be 25 teams ready to sign him
(if his contract demands would be modest)

Most of us agree on here it takes a minimum of 2 stars to make it,,,,,,,,,name another star Melo has been paired with and failed.............

I basically make about.........$6,000k-$8,000k a month online.......... It's enough to comfortably replace my old jobs income, especially considering I only work about 10-13 hours a week from home. go to this site home tab for more detail .... ???????????????????????? WWW.tec70.COM

I don't think you can tempt Melo with that kind of money. So go somewhere else.

Come To LA, Bro.

whoops, i thought maybe 2014 would be different......new year's resolution #1 already failed

January 2, 2014  09:33 AM ET

lol the sad thing was management listened to Carmelo this offseason to try and bring in players he thought would help the team win (maybe not Chris Smith). Andrei Bargnani (might have spelt that wrong) is the big one here and it's obvious from rajon rondo talks that Carmelo is definitely putting presure on them.
And when he leaves he'll say 'I just felt like, going forward, the Lakers organization will give me the best chance of chasing my dream. No disrespect to the Knicks, they're a great organization-I just want to win'. He's not a humble guy or one with integrity or accountability. He's an Omega and that's why he's going to buddy with Kobe next season at a pay cut.
But it's OK, can replace his scoring with J.R Smith right?
Or an intern from SI's T and R's page!

He will never win a ring. His attitude and selfish play style have been half the problem since he's been here. The best two times the Knicks have looked was when Amare got there and the team played well around him, and when melo was hurt for awhile last year and Lin made them look like a team again. Melo needs to look in the mirror and accept responsibility for his flaws
