07:31 AM ET 01.02 | What a difference an Olympic cycle makes. Four years ago, T.J. Oshie found himself in Grand Forks, watching Team USA win a silver medal at the 2010 Vancouver Games. This time around, he'll be in Russia trying to make that a gold for the Americans. The former Warroad High standout has been selected to play for the U.S. at the 2014 Sochi Games. ... USA Hockey also introduced Jocelyne and Monique Lamoureux in front of the 100,000-plus crowd at Michigan Stadium along with the rest of their U.S. Olympic teammates on Wednesday. One of those teammates, defenseman Gigi Marvin, is from Warroad, giving the Warriors a representative on both the men's and women's side in Sochi. "I was in shock a little bit," Oshie told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. "But very happy, very proud to be named to the team. Very, very excited."

No surprises here. T.J. is a very good player. Good, solid choice.

I checked out the U.S. roster yesterday and I'll be shocked if they medal at all.

If they medal, it will be due to weak teams from other countries. I tend to agree, 5th or 6th is most likely.

Maybe a Chernobyl, glow in the dark medal, but no, I don't see them going very far this time either. Bring back the amateurs!

After they picked Howard I'll never be surprised who they pick next.

He's never had a 20 goal (pro) season, but would they pick him over Ryan??

Same here....

The U.S. roster doesn't look imposing but I wish them well, same for the Canadian team, be good to see them battle for gold again. I'm not holding my breath, though, would be a big surprise if it happened.

I don't think the League will allow the players to go to the next winter Olympics. I think its in Korea?

Great initials, but this team has no Johnson. Let alone a defenceable pairing.

Yup. He always stands out when I watch the Blues... and in a positive way.

US just got bounced by the Ruskies in the WJC

On NHL ice I could see them perhaps putting up a fight, but on the olympic ice, I just don't see that as a possibility. USA will get eaten alive in Sochi.

Hopefully Buffalo can retain these draft picks. I believe Russia's Zadorov belongs to the Sab's
