Doughty calls out his Kings

07:42 AM ET 01.03 | Against the Blues, the Kings had hoped for a turning point in their slide -- not the low point in a 5-0 loss. St. Louis was without leading scorer Alex Steen (concussion) and captain David Backes (upper-body injury). That is 40 goals missing from the lineup but newly minted U.S. Olympian T.J. Oshie scored twice for the Blues. "There's not really much to say about [Thursday's] game," Kings defenseman Drew Doughty said. "We played bad and we need to turn it around. I think we're down on ourselves and we can't be." ... Doughty gave the most direct assessment of the team's woes. "We've got to remember that [confidence]," he said. "We're playing like we're scared out there. We're scared to try things. We're scared to do the right things and that's why we're losing and that's why we got smoked tonight."

Down with Brown?

OMG in TOR they would be rioting in the streets and calling for the Coach's head.

And in other news, Rob Ford is officially running for re-election!

I push the handle in agreement.

I Doughty very much they'll pay any attention to him. It's not like he's scored 3 goals single-handedly and nobody else showed up.

Same here. I press the reboot button and hope Ryan-Yendle comes up instead of Brown.

Otis!

Did you see the performance PK Chelios put on last night in downing your boys?

Dominant.

I thought of you often last night, Hank.

Often.

That was as dominant performance by one guy on the ice as I've seen in awhile. And a damn good game to boot. Good enough that the Sugar Bowl took a backseat for an hour or so.

Where is he, as captain he should be the one calling them out, unless they took the 'C' away from him.

In his case, the 'C' stands for something other than captain.

The Kings may be sliding, but I was still surprised by last night. The Kings have dominated the Blues that last 2-3 years and with Backes and Steen out, I thought it would be a tough game to get a W.

I've heard he can't skate backwards though....

His deficiencies (whatever they are) were not on display last night.

Patches is going to be a good one for USA. This guy is on fire.

Bobby Ryan > Max Patchy.

perhaps. I'm biased, but if you look at the last 20 games, patches has been absolutely sensational. He had a terrible start to the season, but since finding his game he has been hovering dangerously close to a goal per game. Not making comparisons, but I definitely think USA could use a guy with his size that can score at the net. They'll need it to break the 1-1 deadlock they obviously expect to be in...

He was damn good last night too...

People can **** all they want about the new schedules. But I get a good look at the East teams now. I like it.

There was rumor floating about him coming to Rangers via trade; I have to admit to getting wood upon hearing that....
