Bogans irked by lack of minutes

07:26 AM ET 01.03 | Keith Bogans celebrated the New Year by staying after practice for more work at the Celtics' facility. The 33-year-old guard has spent this season as an onlooker during games. He hopes that will change in 2014 and the remainder of his 11th NBA season. "I just want to play," Bogans said. "I want to play basketball. I want to get off the bench." ... This is unfamiliar territory for the veteran who has a career average of 21.7 minutes per game, including 19.0 minutes and 23 starts last season with the Nets. With the exception of the 2011-12 season in which he was shut down by an ankle injury, Bogans' previous season-low was 59 game appearances. "[I miss] everything," Bogans said. "Everything. Imagine 11 years and just this. ... It would not matter [how many minutes] as long as I was on the court playing."

If you want to play then head overseas....Your career is pretty much over in the NBA.

He will become far more important when the playoffs start.

Why? Is he getting traded? Because the Celtics won't be in the playoffs.

He basically hit the lottery by being part of the big Nets trade. The Celtics had to do a sign and trade with him to make the overall numbers work and so he is making over $5 million this year to sit on the bench. It's not like he would be playing much for anybody else, either. Or making $5 million.

he's on the celts ?
wow, didn't realize he was still in the league

talk about a guy though with minimal talent-
working, sicking around and having a 10 year NBA career
good for him

January 3, 2014  08:58 AM ET

Does he still think he's at Kentucky?

January 3, 2014  08:59 AM ET

He is done. There are better players then him and they're out of the league.

Hit the nail on the head with this one. Send this dude to China if he wants to continue his basketball career.

No, the playoffs become more of a half court game and teams challenge the 3 point shooters more. A low post presence will be meaningful.

I thought the article was on Bogut, not Bogans.
