Krug tweaking USA Hockey?

07:42 AM ET 01.03 | Torey Krug may not have been exactly right when he said he "wasn't getting a sniff" from USA Hockey, but, as it turned out, he didn't make the Olympic roster. He wasn't invited to the Team USA Orientation camp this summer, and that was understandable given that he'd only just begun to establish himself at the NHL level with a standout performance during last spring's Stanley Cup playoffs. But the 22-year-old defenseman has also never been a part of many Team USA select teams despite a stellar amateur career. ... "I'm a younger guy, and coming into the league at my age gives you more opportunities to put yourself in a position to be considered for an Olympic team. But I've never been a player that USA hockey has liked all that much, for whatever reason. Maybe it's a size thing? I don't know."

Hey TK

Maybe if you show more skill in hotel-room trashing.......

Just sayin'

I'd prefer that no Bruins were picked for any of the Olympic squads. They'd be better off with a short vacation.

I like your thinking.

I've said it many times myself.

Just not about the Bruins.

"He wasn't invited to the Team USA Orientation camp this summer, and that was understandable..."

So ..... what's the real story here? He's not good enough for the O-lame-pics? Speaking for myself ... I'd consider that a blessing.

WHAAAATTTT??? You don't want to see your favorite player Zdeno Chara patrolling the blue line for Slovakia? I'm shocked!

''.....Maybe it's a size thing? I don't know." Said that myself before:)

No relation to this story, but with regards to the Bobby Ryan <snub>...if anyone should be upset, shouldn't it be Ben Bishop? He's like top 3 in pretty much every single category this season...while playing for a team that traditionally couldn't stop a leaky faucet...

You stud! You can always go out on a date with Lorena Bobbitt and ask her to trim you down to a more manageable size. :-)

definitely true, but I also think that the players that would be lucky enough to suit up for a real contender would gain a ton of experience during those couple weeks abroad.

In my case, as a Habs fan, I am doubtful about this being "our year", and i'm not necessarily against the idea of seeing Carey, PK or Patches get to perform at this level while surrounded with real talent.

Lorena Bobbitt....now we're really reaching deep into the bag of obscure pop culture references. I'm pretty sure that anybody a year or 2 younger than me would have no clue who that is.

YOU ARE SO A-B-S-O-L-U-T-E-L-Y RIGHT!

They pick two injured guys and leave him off the list? Gotta be kidding me!

Maybe it's because he plays for Tampa, the team of Canada's GM?

Shiprock is from that era. He knows.

to our advantage I suppose. As I had previously said, looks like this year's USA squad suffers from the same thing as Canada's Torino group, it's all about what you've doen in the distant past and zero about what they're doing now. I think USA hockey is in for a big wake-up call following Sochi.

With guys like Burkie picking the squad, this wouldn't surprise me in the least...

I can't recall the year but it was in the 80's.

One of the properly configured international tournaments held in Sept featured a few Islanders including Brent Sutter.

When he hit the ice running as the regular season started he went on an absolute tear.

I don't think playing for the upcoming disappointing 4th place team would have any impact on Subban or Price.....

He can patrol all he wants.

I won't see it anyway.
