08:23 AM ET 01.04 | With the looming possibility of Carmelo Anthony departing New York as a free agent this summer, New York Knicks officials have discussed proposing a trade to the Los Angeles Clippers for Blake Griffin, according to league sources. Sources say Clippers management also has had internal discussions about such a deal but that the clubs have not yet spoken to one another about a potential trade. As of now, neither team is certain it would make an Anthony-for-Griffin trade, the sources said.

Mecca and I have had discussions here on the boards-
and we're waiting for someone to read them ?

IMO-
it would be solid for both teams.

LA gets that 'finisher' -
the clips are decent- but limited at the wing- and need an upgrade over dudley

NY gets the 'star power' that dolan wants, cause he believes stars sell seats
and since NY is not going to compete this year-
they can start to turn the roster over (again)

Also Blake is much younger.

Come To LA, Bro.

Ugh, this is a tough one. On the one hand, I'd like to think griffin is still a rising star where as Melo has hit his peak. Do any NYK or Clipper fans sign off on this? I'd prolly have to sign off on it. Melo is a bona fide basket cases for coaches, but i'd believe he'd fall in line under a hard nose coach like Doc Rivers. As for Griffin, well, i don't know that the clippers would do this since his star is still rising. It's a classic gamble for the clippers... do you risk the future and throw it away for a 2 year window to win it all with cp3/melo and that team.... or do you stay the coarse with cp3/griffin and hope griffin can step his game up a notch going forward and they can take the next step? This is a tough one

lol....for a normal team - that would be relevant
but NY doesn't care about age-
they care about glitz and who would attract 1st row celebrities

CP is locked up for 4 more years-
so the window is that.

Blake is a 'star' but he's not an elite basketball player-
I think, much like dwight- he is what he is
an athletic guy that will give you 20-10.....
but not a guy you want with the ball in crunch time

Melo - for all his warts- is good in the clutch and wants the ball
and the clips NEED a closer- if they REALLY want to contend
CP is great- but little guards can't always finish games

I think CP + doc will keep melo 'humbled'
and that combo has a higher chance of winning a ring than cp-blake

Yeah this is a tough one. It makes total sense yet no sense at all. However, your comment made me think the Clippers should pull the trigger. When you compare the "2 year window to win it all with cp3/melo" to "or do you stay the coarse with cp3/griffin and hope griffin can step his game up..."

I would have to go for the two year window...

I agree since I think melo is a more complete player despite his flaws. It's not like either player believe in defense. I'd pull the trigger if I'm both teams, but this trade at least made me pause and think on it an weigh the pros and cons. It would make the clippers a very dangerous team

Pau was auditioning last night with a monster game. 23 pts, 17 rebounds, 3 blocked shots.

I think he's saying "Get me out of here!" to your Cavs.
