09:03 AM ET 01.04 | By the time J.R. Smith took a peek at the scoreboard, it was already too late. The unpredictable and sometimes careless shooting guard had already launched a quick 3-pointer with the game tied and the shot clock turned off. Sound familiar? "Honestly, I thought we were down two," Smith said following the Knicks' crushing 102-100 loss to the Houston Rockets Friday night. "I shot the ball, I started hearing Tyson (Chandler) saying 'no, no, no don't take a shot.' But by that time it was already released."

J.R. Smith forgets score, remembers score, doesn't care about score, launches ill-advised 3-pointer...

Here's a joke. Maybe one day, J.R. Smith will lead the Knicks to a championship.

January 4, 2014  12:37 PM ET

Knicks were playing the second of a back to back on the road, after a fine performance/win against the Spurs. Still, gotta look at the board.

January 4, 2014  01:24 PM ET

Dejavu... NY have to live w/ JR's stupidness. He plays better when he doesn't use his brain but the outcome could be like last night.

January 4, 2014  02:54 PM ET

Oh whatever. Like this is somehow surprising!! That' what one would expect from this idiot anyway.

January 4, 2014  03:16 PM ET

How did this jerk end up with the ball. A 34.7 FG% shouldn't be on the floor unless it is to wipe up wet spots...

January 4, 2014  03:35 PM ET

again this is why the knicks are horrible, they don't play defense, they have jack-it-up shooters and overpriced players

Dude needs to be playing with Bron or Kobe. They would really chew his A out... (And help him to not be "Stuck on Stupid!" as Gen Russel Honor?? would say).
