09:14 AM ET 01.04 | Yahoo! Sports Pat Forde writes: [Charlie] Strong would, in fact, be the absolute worst fit for the job anyway. He is the anti-Mack Brown, completely averse to extensive interaction with media and boosters. Strong is from the Greta Garbo school -- he wants to be left alone. That wouldn't fly at Longhorn Network University. If he's hired, you're free to wonder whether the people involved with the search asked the right questions and got the right answers.

IMHO, being averse to the media and boosters are positive traits, not negative ones.

LHN - the little viewed entity which weighs about the amount of one massive albatross.

He hasn't made too many friends in the media.. who wouldn't mind seeing him leave.. besides Strong.. no matter how good his team is.. will ALWAYS be 2nd to Pitino & the basketball team

LMAO. If thats his complaint about Strong I have no problems. They guys prefers to coach rather than talk to the media. Who cares.

What the FlyingPhuck does Pat Forde know....

I think its a great fit for UT.....Strong is a great counter to Sumlin who re-energized TAMU..
..Plus he is a pretty dammm good HC and Recruiter... Just got to fill out that staff!!

I remember a few weeks ago someone here mentioned it will probably be Strong since his name wasnt being floated around in the beginning... wonder where that guy went

Yep. If their goal is to find someone to " fit " what they already have then they will continue to be what they are.

I agree the question of coordinators is the big one. Who will he hire/bring. Hopefully Watson is told to pound sand. I am undecided about Bedford but he is a former Texas player and is a graduate so he'd be coming home. At the same time he struggled against Texas when he was the Okie Lite DC but his opponent was VY.

I like the hire. Young enough, energetic enough, can recruit, can definitely coordinate a defense. He just needs to nail it on the offense side of the staff.

Solid hire....good players-coach and strategist. Will do a good job recruiting and running the program. I think UTx did well

Thats my thought. He may have gotten questions answered from Mack that Charlie won't be bothered with.

Charlie, don't let the door hit you in the butt as you exit Louisville. Total lack of class not informing or meeting with the UofL AD. Drives to Indiana to meet with Texas people so the local press won't catch him; but they did.

Question.....not trying to stir the pot, but curious.

I've always heard Strong's prickly towards media because he is extra-sensitive to bias/perceived criticism of others about his bi-racial marriage. Any truth to this is Louisville?

January 4, 2014  09:57 AM ET

There could be a problem with him if he wants to bring along Hurtt. He is still under a 2 year show-cause due to his Miami problems.

Yeah he is the only coach in America that does that

It's already being reported that Strong has the job. Good choice. Don't really care much about how he interacts with boosters.

Yep cuz Bridgewater ain't coming with him.

IMO, those traits are the primary reasons he got the job.

I think you are on to something. Texas needs the anti-Mack right now. His culture was part of the problem.

Heres hoping Heard is the second coming of Teddy. Similar skillset.
