09:45 AM ET 01.05 | The NHL trade deadline isn't until March 5 at 3 p.m. EST, but the heat could be turned up on general manager's to start dealing in the next month. With the Olympic break set for Feb. 8 a roster freeze goes into effect until the end of the Sochi Games on Feb. 23. Even when the league does resume play on Feb. 26 there will only be a seven-day window to the deadline. "The roster freeze will act as a deadline, especially for those teams that want to save a little bit of money," said a league executive. "There's a chance to get deals done in the next few weeks that will get money off the books." That means if teams like Buffalo, Calgary and Edmonton want to start unloading contracts then they had better get to work. The concern for some teams has to be injuries.

BURKE SUCKS

Even the Eagles and Chiefs didn't lose by an unconverted touchdown.....

One of the better ones. I had to smile at the early scores, just like the Yotes, and the NFL playoffs, they didn't all hold up.

Leafs were still celebrating their win in the Big House.

If you count the goal the refs disallowed because they felt sorry for the kids watching in person, it was8-1

Could be considered child abuse.

Dallas had one disallowed also, but down there in Dallas the refs had to leave with an armed guard:)

I thought they were going to just let the clock run after it hit 6 - 1.

The Leafs played on a Saturday night!

Is this something new they are trying?

The inactivity up 'til now is almost startling, everyone's waiting for the other guy - the management in this League is paralyzed from the neck up - and the 'nads have universally gone missing.

The Battdung Effect.

Humorless Brent Sutter goes home with the tale tucked between his legs and with his hands empty. His whip-cracking style may intimidate juniors in the WHL but doesn't work too well with highly skilled, elite athletes. Poor coaching choice for Team Canada.

I'm not a Sutter fan but he's had success in the tourny before.

Yup, seems Brent is always a bad choice, now - lost his Luky Charms.

Ahh yes.......another classic bad game report from The Canuck eh! Lol

It was terrible.....I watched it in fast forward to ease the pain!

Nope. I think its hockey Canada, as there was a few players that should have been there and weren't, and it makes no sense. Why not have a blooming stars line mates play with them, or Domi,Nurse (who is playing for my town)... Even our goalie Matt Murray would've been a good choice.

I'm not putting this on coaches, but whoever made the roster this year needs his looked at.

There were some nice players on that team and will be stars in the future hopefully.

What a let down...
