Bruins in market for blue-line help?

10:22 AM ET 01.05 | The Bruins were sitting pretty, or so it seemed. As the 2013-14 season was wearing on, it appeared as though they very much remained one of the favorites to represent the Eastern Conference and play for the Stanley Cup in June. Sure, a dip in the trade market to pick up some scoring help couldn't be ruled out, but they'd be in pretty good shape without it. Well, all that changed of course with less than five minutes to play in Game 38 of the season, when Dennis Seidenberg got entangled with Ottawa's Cory Conacher and clutched his right knee. Alas, the torn ACL and MCL will shelve him for 6-8 months. Between now and the trading deadline, the B's young defensemen have an opportunity to impact Peter Chiarelli's thinking in what kind of a deal he may pursue, but it's a good bet he makes one.

They looked pretty good last night against Winnipeg.

I see that the Rangers got a little "gritty" help when they picked up Carcillo.

A lot of teams do...and the Bruins have won a dozen straight vs this franchise.

Things will change for the Jets this afternoon. They play the Pens and the Pens were off last night so the Jets will beat them bad.

Lol, nailed it, Chiarelli IS Costanza! He must have got the Bruins job due to his Yankees experience working with Steinbrenner.

Yeah buta, if yon Jetz scored on better than 1 in 10-12 scoring chances - sixteen posts and crossbars is a very conservative count over the last four games (as in full-dingers and touching the goal line on the way out, or, crossbars then out of play from 3 meters or less) - also 4 missed breakaways in the game they won - then a whole lot of these 70% 1 goal losses, would be appearing on the other side of the ledger. I don't think the way they're playing now is all that bad, but the finishing is horrendous to abysmal.

Clitsome, Melchiori and Pavelich for one of either Spooner or Smith or Paille, and Chad Johnson.

I can also see Tyler Myers for Soderberg, Shawn Thornton and a first or second round pick.

That only works for me B-F. Tee, hee.

He should have been elevated to secretary to the Archbishop by now.

Given the way that Soderberg's game is coming around, I don't see Chiarelli trading him. Plus, he's on a VERY cap friendly contract.

Not many players who an score 20-30 goals and still only cost 1 mil against the cap this year and next.

Call it a George Costanza moment

All Swedes are anathema to the B-ruins.

Can anyone even tolerate the ignorance of Swedish unbelievably homer crowds? The homer reffing is quite something to behold too.

January 5, 2014  03:03 PM ET

They really don't care how much it stinks.

January 5, 2014  03:33 PM ET

The Jetz just keep discovering new ways to lose.

I was admiring that Finnish team. They all look like they were conceived in a lab from a single pair of donors. Erie!

How about that game. Montoya had a GAA of 2.02, MAF was 2.12, so of course they score 11 goals in the game. I think the Pens got three goals off of deflection by the Jets defense. I'd give Orpik an assist on the Kane breakaway and another goal in there.
