08:57 AM ET 01.05 | Another day of silence from Al Golden. Another day of uncertainty in the world of University of Miami football. While Hurricanes fans, players, recruits and their families wondered Saturday about the future of the Miami football program, Golden -- the subject of speculation that he is contemplating leaving UM to coach at his alma mater Penn State -- remained mum. But UM athletic director Blake James told the Miami Herald in a text message that he had been in "regular communication" with Golden, and seemed optimistic that Golden will stay. "Al and I are in regular communication," James said Saturday in the text. "He is our football coach and I believe he will be our coach going forward. Go Canes!"

If you really want him to stay in Miami Mr. GM offer him a extension and more money which in most cases is the formula of keeping head coaches.

If Miami didn't have some of the most fair-weather fans in CFB, they'd be calling for the head of Golden Al. He has been an unqualified failure at Da U. Not even an ACC division title to his credit. The 'Canes just ain't what they used to be...

From the tv shots of the stands during games, it would appear that the U doesn't have many fans-fair weather or good weather.

Da U should have gone after Charlie Strong. He's done an incredible job at L-ville, and recruits the Miami metro area like a fiend. He'd have been a much better fit at Miami than Texas, IMO.

What I would like to know is what happened to the Gators?! And is anyone going to offer coach O'Leary a better/higher paying gig?

Stoops, Gus, what does it matter? It's media rumor.

And that's a problem. That school rests in the middle of one of the most talent-rich recruiting ground in the land.

It'd have to be the hottest Latina on the planet -- and even then it would be tough for it to be worth losing your multi-million dollar coaching gig while becoming a laughingstock running your Hawg into the ditch so that you end up wearing a neck brace and looking like you were the punching bag at the San Quentin exercise yard, and end up coaching at Podunk U begging for another shot someplace.

Perfect storm of injuries. At least that's what we hope it is. We'll know by the end of this coming season.
