Lightning hold their breath for Bishop

07:54 AM ET 01.06 | Coming out of Sunday night's game, Lightning coach Jon Cooper didn't want to consider how the team might have to move forward without goaltender Ben Bishop. "Let's just wait to make that determination when we find out what's wrong with him," Cooper said. Bishop, one of the league's top goalies, was hurt 4:18 into the first period of Sunday night's 5-3 loss to the Oilers at Rexall Place. He had an X-ray and will be re-evaluated today for what the team said was an upper-body injury that is believed to be to his right hand or arm. A serious injury would be another huge blow to the Lightning, which already has put forth mammoth effort to overcome the absence of center Steven Stamkos, out since Nov. 11 with a broken right tibia.

Other than Stamkos he's the one player they can ill afford to lose for any extended period.

Remarkably they had pretty mush the same record with Stamkos as without ? That says a whole lot about this Goalie.

Usually when a Bishop asks somebody to hold their breath it doesn't turn out well.

Pretty sure it wasn't the Catholic church that invented soap-on-a-rope.

His replacement didn't look too shabby, if you were to ask me.

This is purely the Yzzz-man taking the pressure of his Buddy Poile - and also ensuring (of course) that no second choosings take place on Tampax Bay. No one's out to save Burkie's bacon though, eh. Wooden't it be nice, if Team US suddenly needed an F when Brown went down.

Yes, and I hope he gets back to health quick and resumes what I figured he'd be eventually.....great!

I watch him play quite a few games in the AHL, and again in the Allstar game and he showed signs of being one of those elite guys. I just hope he gets back and is healthy and doing good.
