Trotz blames backup for Preds loss

07:55 AM ET 01.06 | To hear Predators coach Barry Trotz tell it, the Predators shouldn't have lost, 2-1, to Carolina on Sunday. He thought it should have been a 1-0 or 2-0 Predators victory. And in Trotz's mind, the main culprit for the loss was goaltender Carter Hutton, who allowed scores from Alexander Semin and a late game-winner from Jeff Skinner. "I thought we held them down to virtually no chances against," Trotz said. "We had lots of chances and just had zero saves today. Bottom line. I thought we were the better team, and the guys in the room deserved to win the game, plain and simple." The loss snapped the Predators' four-game points streak, and Nashville heads home for a brutal stretch that features four games this week, including two next weekend.

Low hanging fruit , easy for a Coach to blame a back up goalie , or a punter.

This season may be the end of the line for comrade Trotzky.

Both him and his GM buddy are rapidly becoming bigger jokes than the fact there is a NHL team in Nashville.

As well they should be. That is one (heck) of a comment to make to the media. I don't care if its true or not. You go to the guy and tell him that to his face, but you don't go to the media with that. Wow.

It appears Trotz has read Iron Mike's book on coaching.

I have huge admiration for him as a Coach . This sort of comment from him surprised me.

Mike would likely want it called a Manifesto rather then a book .
Mikes rule #1 -The Coach is always right
Mikes rule #2 - pull the goalie , repeat as needed

I doubt it. Very few have done so much with so little.

Wouldn't you eventually get tired of trying to score with the broken sticks management gives you? After a while I think I would also say "Well, our defense shut down pretty much everything again, but we still lost 2-1. Imagine that."

Maybe he just isn't capable of getting offensive production out of guys?

Impossible. He and Torts are offensive geniuses.

Dont think Torts was ever considered an offensive genius, AV was supposed to be the savior....

He might be tired, but Barry always tells the truth - the goals were spectacularly soft. Hutton has been pretty darn good as a back-up, but I'm thinkiing that Mr Trotz has some higher hopes for him - which probably means that his #1's prognosis (for continuing his extremely high level of performance sometime soon, if at all) isn't all that good.

No-sh-ville's in the same boat as Winterpeg, and Miniscrota - basically have to get 56 to 58 more points to be guarateed a playoff spot - tall order 26-28 wins and 10-12 losses, to finish the season - unless of course, Vindaloover and/or the Coy-bloaties absolutely tank, then it could be scaled back accordingly, and perhaps 92 points could gain a berth in the post-dom, male-strom - but that, representa an absolute statistical minimum - for the Jetz that would be 24-12-1 - so basically .660 or better from here on out - but only very, very slightly better for the other four.

Let the games begin, and be gone - then, the REAL games can start.

Methinks 'Little Stevie' Haich had to carry on in that jacked up publicity forum a few minutes ago with brown panties.
