Why Lakers didn't trade Odom
The trade deadline came and went, and Lamar Odom didn't have to worry, for once. The main reason for the Lakers' inactivity in the days before Thursday's deadline was their acquisition of Pau Gasol three weeks earlier, their lone venture into a vigorous big-name trade market. Another reason for the Lakers to stand pat was their curiosity, if not eagerness, to see how a starting frontline of Gasol, Odom and Andrew Bynum would fare in the Western Conference. Either way, Odom can now afford to relax, in many ways. But if the Lakers don't fare well in the playoffs, Odom could be one of the first to be traded in the off-season.

I beieve the only team that has a shot to bring the Lakers down is the Celts.. That being said, i still believe the Lakers will win it all this year.

i think it is a good move not to trade odom. He is a great all around player. He also doesnt mind taking a smaller role because of Gasol and Kobe. And since Bynum is out he can help on defense and rebounding but when Bynum is back he can score, assist and rebound. So I think the Lakers should keep him.

Trading Odom is just a nasty rumor designed to discourage or make him think the Lakers didn't want him LO is too smart for that. Are you kidding? He's big and automatic double double every game. He is difficult to match up. LO will get hs ring this year with the Lakers. With Kobe's leadership, they will go all the way. Go Lakers!!!!!!

Who was the possible trade for? The NBA wasn't going to allow for lightning to strike twice in LA.

The only team in the west that scares me is Phoenix. The fact that the Lakers lost in the playoffs to them the previous two years and the Shaq factor has to mess with Kobe's head a little. However, Kobe is the best in the league today and wants more than anything to prove it! If the rest of the team can just continue to play exactly as they are right now, the Lakers just might win it all.

Why trade him he is a very versatile player that every team should want. He can play virtually any position in a bind, and fits well into the trianlge offensive becuase he is an adept passer, shooter and rebounder. I see no reasons to trade him unless Kobe has some problem with him becuase they almost always seem to do what he wants.

And by the way, the Celtics did not look to scary last night, I would be more afraid of the Suns in your own conference, especially if they will win games when they only score 85 points.

Though Odom is great as a 3 or 4,.. it would have been fanastic to get Boozer as I think Boozer would make the Lakers even better...!
Also curious to see how they will play when Bynum returns...!

it was an ugly game, too much rough and tumble physical play..the suns didnt play well the reason they won is the celtics played worse
allen 11 pts. on 3-12 shooting, pierce 8 pts., 2-13 shooting if pierce and allen would have made 15 pts. a piece the celtics would have won, and dont tell me they were shackled by the suns defense..

Yeah I didn't want him out of there at all. He is a nearly perfect fit! He can shoot a little bit from everywhere on the floor, he drives, he passes (a lot), he rebounds very very well, and he LOVES the conservative role he's in. What more can you want? When you have 3 Potential All-Stars in front of you (Bynum was playing very well) you need a guy that can play 4 positions and be gritty enough to guard the "Shawn Marion" type of guy like he did last year. He's exactly what they need right now, and if he does get traded this off-season, They would need a pure outside shooter that can rebound in return, that's about all that could replace him there...

The problem I have with Odom is his ability (if you'd call it that) to disappear in games. Sometimes he'll be a force out there and he'll be scoring and making stops on D, but other times his presence seems nonexistant.

Boozer cheated his way out of Cleveland: why'd lakers want someone like that? A trade Odom for Boozer is entertaining, but realistically Utah would rather trade Kirilenko.
I remember when Odom was with the Clippers. He wanted out of that LA team and couldn't wait to sign Heat's offer sheet.

Everybody wants to play with a winner. Odom is happy here and I don't see any reason to trade him if you only upgrade, at the most, 2-5%.
The Lakers are playing well together and the fellows all get along. Much needed to win a champion ship.
