07:37 AM ET 01.07 | Of course, Twitter was atwitter throughout the evening, and then AJ McCarron, in a way, was pulled into the fray. In the chaos after Florida State's 34-31 win over Auburn on Monday night for the BCS championship in Pasadena, Calif., fans reacted to Jameis Winston's postgame interview on ESPN. Perhaps none got the response that Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron's mom received. Dee Dee McCarron tweeted during the Winston interview: "Am I listening to English?" The feedback was immediate, even as the tweet was deleted. She later apologized with an additional tweet. ... @DeeDeeBonner: Any1 that knows our family knows we r far from racist. My tweet was not in anyway meant that way. I sincerely apologize if it offended any1.

As for Dee Dee, the more I hear from her the more I am glad it is now her time to fade back into the shadows.

A lot of people made remarks about Winston on twitter, but the only one anyone notices is AJ's mother. Go figure.

Well said. If I wanted grammar checks and sentence construction, I would watch PBS. The guy is a gamer and someday he MAY have enough money to take English classes.

When they say they aren't racist.........

She's right he can not talk plus the cops covered up the rape that he did. But that is what the Tallahassee police
do for the football team. Like when I saw a so called football star years ago. He was breaking into a car and the cops told me that I did not see anything and the officer told me you know what I mean. For the person that his car was being broke into the collage paid him off.

Don't all athletic departments have people that help players prepare to talk to the media?

If not they should. If they do, some need to improve their craft. Some of these guys are horrible and it is not right to put them in that situation if it embarrasses them.

IIRC, this is why John Thompson at Georgetown wouldn't let his players talk to the press during their run in the NCAA Tourny...they couldn't talk well either. I think Patrick Ewing has gotten better, but not then
