Beasley living in limbo

07:27 AM ET 01.07 | In the grand scheme of things, Tuesday for the Heat means a game against New Orleans. All Michael Beasley sees is Tuesday. And not just because at 5 p.m. Tuesday, due to the waiver rules, the Heat must decide whether to waive Beasley or allow his nonguaranteed, one-year contract to become guaranteed Friday. But all Beasley sees is Tuesday because it's Tuesday. He will have the same approach Wednesday. "You've got to, especially on a nonguaranteed contract," Beasley said. "You get complacent, you get comfortable, that's when you start to take a couple of steps back. Coming in every day, just trying to be better than yesterday. Trying to do what the team asks." ... That's what Beasley has done and more. Nobody playing less than 20 minutes a game averages more points than Beasley's 11.1 per game.

A Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Waste, Bro.

Limbo?
Why the hell would they waive him, unless he goes on jrsmith-like bender tonight

Most of the contracts should be like this so that players cannot slack of and play w/ a sense of urgency. Anyways, he's been playing good and they won't release him unless They use his spot to bring in Bynum.

Beasley's barely being paid $1 million this year. Relatively speaking, he's the biggest bargain in the league.

For what he's providing and for what he's capable of providing, shedding the remainder of his contract would be a silly move.

Beasley is a keeper!

January 7, 2014  09:58 AM ET

Seems like a no-brainer for the Heat. Keep the kid...

Compare this against Joe Johnson's $124M guaranteed contract. JJ laid a single digit goose egg in 5 consecutive games playing 35+ minutes!!!! Wow.

Just as the current Artic weather covering the U.S. proves Global Warming, Beez should be the poster child for the national legalize marijuana campaign, thus adding even more luster to the Obama Administration's legacy.

First article of the day worth commenting on. Pat the Rat is looking like GOLD with this move. No one that I know questioned Beasley's talent, what was in question was his desire to make his mark in the NBA. First time around he had to find his way while playing along aide a selfish D.Wade. With LeBron James anchoring the HEAT is was easier to tap into Beasley talent bank and get him to start playing up to his ability instead of playing down to it. The fact that he was being given an opportunity to play for the 2X Champs is an honor in it'self. But Pt Riley is know for his loyalty and it generally pays off.
In B's case it came in the form of new found gold. And not to mention with Shane thinking about his future after basketball it gives B's a chase to crack the starting lineup next season. Everybody likes a winner & MB is doing his part, IN FULL. Best of everything for the remainder of the season Mike. You deserve not just a break, but the right break.
