07:30 AM ET 01.08 | Selling championship rings is nothing new, but it isn't often one hits the market as quickly as Damien Berry's did. Less than a year removed from the Super Bowl XLVII victory, the former Ravens running back has apparently put his Super Bowl ring up for sale. GoldinAuction.com plans to put up more than a dozen championship rings for bid starting Jan. 13, including Berry's ring and linebacker Jamie Sharper's Ravens 2000 Super Bowl XXXV ring. The website states Berry's ring is the first available from the 2012 champions, noting how uncommon it is for a ring to go on sale so quickly. "This is a rare opportunity for a fan or a collector to own a Super Bowl ring less than a year after it was earned and one from a landmark NFL game," said Founder of Goldin Auctions Ken Goldin.

They should pay you to take it.........

Damien Berry was on IR that entire year, so you could say he didn't really earn it. It's no surprise that he feels no connection to the ring. I'd sell it, too, in that situation.

More puzzling is why Jamie Sharper is selling his... financial mismanagement, perhaps

Weird things happen to Ravens super bowl rings... I'm still baffled by the story of the secretary for the Ravens who accidentally dropped hers into the Bay.

Let me guess. He's broke.

January 8, 2014  08:34 AM ET

Never heard of him.

Whats really weird is it floated.

I have read in the pas that at least 60 per cent of retired NFL players are broke. Rookie season here comes the money, they think it will last for years, buy cars jewelry and a house. Then girlfriend gets pregnant , reality hits home, you are cut, child's mother looking for support, and you wake up and realize you are broke and in major debt and the dream is over.

You can't fix stupid, a college degree with a major in PE isn't worth a lot.

Take it to Pawn Stars, they like shiny things.

The price of "recreational" activities is high.....

January 8, 2014  11:36 AM ET

Time to drop the whole ring thing for winning a superbowl. Replace it with a great tattoo. Sure ends the selling it off idea unless you are really really desperate for some cash.

January 8, 2014  11:39 AM ET

Think lamp shade made from human skin with SB tattoo's. Might be kind of dangerous for formor players. There are a lot of twisted people out there.
