Why Orlando won't judge Jacque now

07:24 AM ET 01.09 | The Jacque Vaughn era may just be built to last -- in theory, anyway. [Critics] should know this up front: The Magic plan to keep him as their coach for a long, long time despite all the losing. "He's our coach. That's how I see him," Magic General Manager Rob Hennigan said. "I believe in him." The Magic don't view Vaughn as a Band-Aid or the bridge to the next coach, either. The Magic posted the NBA's worst record (20-62) last season, Vaughn's first as a bench boss. They headed into their game Wednesday night against the Trail Blazers in Portland at 10-24. Until the Magic provide Jacque with more talent, it's difficult to judge just how good a coach he can be at this point. "That's very fair," Hennigan said. "I don't know if that's universally understood."

With a name like Jacque wouldn't he be a better hockey coach?

Orlando knew what they hired when he was hired. You get what you paid for.

They aren't trying to win right now. Jacque's doing his job. I think next year he will be expected to win.

When Hennigan arrived he was presented with a list of three head coaches to choose from. He convinced ownership to go with Jacque instead. So I think his job is pretty secure for now.

......He has done just fine when you take into consideration the Magic's long-term goals......

Unfortunately, too many people (critics) have a complete inability to understand this.
