07:32 AM ET 01.09 | It didn't take long after Michigan announced the departure of Al Borges that news leaked of its next step. Alabama will take a little longer to replace Doug Nussmeier, who reportedly accepted the Wolverine job Wednesday night. A number of names entered the discussion to be Nick Saban's fourth offensive coordinator at Alabama. Phil Savage, the analyst on Alabama's radio broadcasts and executive director of the Senior Bowl, mentioned two names on his Twitter account. Crimson Tide receivers coach Billy Napier and former UCLA/Washington/Colorado head coach Rick Neuheisel made the list "to keep an eye on." ... Then there's Lane Kiffin. The former USC/Tennessee/Oakland Raiders coach's name was popular on the social mediums Wednesday night given his recent trip to Tuscaloosa.

How many jobs has this guy had in the last 10 years? Just seems bizarre that schools don't recognize his failures.

I thought the buzz was Rodman to Kentucky.

I don't know how well Neuheisel's guitar strumming would go over with Saban.

his failures are quite recognized. His failures are mostly linked to head coaching duties and if I remember correctly, he was a decent OC, although it couldn't be too hard to win with Reggie Bush and Matt Leinart running the O. So I can see him getting picked up as an OC somewhere.

I would imagine he was encouraged to seek other career "opportunities".

If he does that he doesn't have anyone else to blame.

He's getting a lot more money, but I'm sure you knew that.

Terrible HC but pretty good OC that should modernize the offense there if satan lets him. Nuss was on his way out as the scapegoat so a lateral move is actually pretty good for him.

Anyone dumb enough to hire this POS will get what they deserve.

January 9, 2014  09:48 AM ET

It's gonna be Napier.

Agreed id Kiffin could tutor under Saban for three years, he could actually become one hell of a coach.
