07:34 AM ET 01.09 | Thursday could be an interesting day at the office for wingers David Booth and Dale Weise. The Canucks didn't practise Wednesday so there was no way to determine whether [Booth and Weise], both healthy scratches against the Penguins, will get their snouts released from coach John Tortorella's doghouse for St. Louis on Friday. But Torts did explain their benching following Tuesday's loss. "Well, I think when you sit people everybody says: 'Oooh, it's a message,'" Tortorella said. "Dale Weise wasn't doing the things he needs to do. David Booth was not doing the things he needs to do. I don't make those decisions. They do with their play. They need to contribute. ... Is it a message? I think it is just you telling me you're not going to contribute so why use you? So that's the way we'll go about it."

Really? What took Three Fingers so long to start playing games with his team?

Not again with Torts' doghouse!

But .... it's so much fun!

I actually stayed up and watched the whole game. One thing that surprised me was the number of people at the game who were rooting for the Pens and even more that were professing their love for Sid. What's up with that?

The other option was the Canucks.

Nuff said.

Torts has actually come across in his press conferences, like he's been medicated....at least compared to his NY days.

He likes to build up the suspense, but I think when his old team kicked some Hawk butt last night, he hit the boiling point.

The NY media can be a buzzsaw compared to Vancouver.

Exactly. It's the first time Sid has been back in Vancouver since his Golden Goal during the Olympics four years ago, believe it or not. I guess the Vancouver fans were showing their appreciation. How polite.

When Sid scored the tieing goal and then the Shootout goal the cheering sounded like a home game.

I like Torts style, he might say something in an off-handed way, but the players better listen.

I've always liked Tortorella.

Of course now that he'd died and gone to Vancouver.....

Time for Toto to go too. Kansas City needs a franchise for this guy to work in anything but broadcasting again.

Well the Rangers won, but "kicked butt" wasn't the way they did it. The blew a 2-0 lead and scored a late goal in the 3rd to pull it out, while being badly outshot. Lundquist kept them in the 3rd when the Hawks dominated in the NY zone.

That's what I thought too. I didn't realize that he hadn't played there since then.

Still, all those Penguin sweaters.
