07:21 AM ET 01.10 | While the Chargers will hit the road for the playoffs this week, there's something in the air in San Diego. You can see them. Hear their thunder. Lightning bolts. They're on lawns, trees, shoes, T-shirts, henna tattoos, bolo ties, house windows, car windows. They adorn the sides of buildings. The new library's dome has been struck by the blue and gold. Even Todd Gloria, San Diego's interim mayor, has asked city employees to wear Chargers colors. ... "It's exciting to see," Chargers boss Dean Spanos says. "I've always said we have the greatest fans in the country ... Back in '06, '07, '08, '09, the stadium was 90 percent Charger fans. We need to get back to that. Winning always helps. But can it turn everything (the Stadium Thing) around, like it did in the '90s?"

Strike while the iron's hot - eh Dean?

The stadium is 45+ years old, so replacing it seems reasonable from that standpoint. Especially compared to some other proposed stadium projects in recent years **ahem** Atlanta **ahem**

But if you don't have the fans and the corporate sponsors to support a new stadium, what's the point? Isn't this one of the franchises that was suggested to move to Los Angeles in the near future?

Yeah, it's been on the short list.

Suddenly, they've won a playoff game and everyone is excited. Let's see if the excitement is still there on Monday when the team is cleaning out their lockers.

This has been Philip Rivers's team for so long it's hard to consider the team without him. But, he's 32. By the time a new stadium could be built, the team will likely be struggling with a new QB and wondering if they should bench him for clipboard holder Mark Sanchez.

They can call it " Me Rivers Stadium."

That works too. Let the fans vote.

I think Qualcomm is something like the 4th oldest stadium in the NFL.

Just what the Dolts need.... room for 25,000 more fans of the visiting team.

Surely you're not suggesting the Bengals would have beaten the Steelers in a playoff game?
