07:35 AM ET 01.10 | As Johnny Manziel nears his NFL career, the pair will soon have something else in common: professional athlete. LeBron James has always seen [Manziel] as a kindred spirit, consistently overanalyzed, sometimes harshly scrutinized. He's also known to be open to mentoring younger athletes, so he was receptive when a call came from people close to the Texas A&M quarterback. ... "When the opportunity was brought to me, I basically just told him, if he's willing to listen, if he's willing to take my advice, then I'm willing to give it," James said. "And throughout this whole season, I would text him weekly before the games and after the games. I didn't know it would lead to us being together now because of business, but I was happy to help him."

Now that is a pair of athletes that I did not see bonding.

How would you like to draw to that pair in a poker game?

If I then drew Alex Rodriguez, then I'd have three of a kind. Eh?

I liked and defended Jonny Foozball untill I heard of his bonding with James and joining his marketing company... James is just a notch above the Kardashians now

Hoping the Texans draft somebody OTHER than him, but not certain I will get my wish.

Talk about an odd couple...

I think they're taking Bridgewater. We'll see, though. Combine could change things.

Now this is a strange relationship

January 10, 2014  09:49 AM ET

Don't they have the same agent now? (LRMR)
LeBron's being pimped.

I can see that. Bob is conservative no doubt, and he does not need a near-hometown-grown sideshow to fill up Reliant with butts.

Carr and TB are more Pro Style QBs and I think thats what BOB wants. Being he worked with Brady and the Hackenberg kid

Made for each other... Over inflated egos and plenty of arrogance.

JohnnyM has his 'Daddy' backing him up, whatever happens. I just don't know if he will be able to do that well in the pros.

As for Lebron... I just don't like him at all. He has his cut-throat business mentality, yet he will end up being one of the relatively few pro athletes that WON'T be broke in 4-5 years. I give him THAT! heh heh

January 10, 2014  10:44 AM ET

I foresee Manziel as turf butter, though, if someone enmeshed in the forthcoming pro draft cares to lay out the odds that Johnny is picked up by a team with a formidable O-line, I'll review this with an open mind.
