09:59 AM ET 01.12 | Blame Derek Holland's best friend for the knee injury that could keep him out of the Rangers' rotation for the first half of the season. Holland said Saturday that he injured his left knee while engaging in horseplay with his dog Wrigley, a standard-size boxer. Holland underwent surgery Friday to repair torn cartilage and other damage. "I was running around with the dog and took off up the stairs," said Holland, the club leader in starts (33) and innings pitched (213) last season. "He chased me and ran up under me and undercut me, and I slammed my head on the steps. It could have been worse. I could have cracked my head open. I was doing a typical guy thing, clowning around with the dog thing, and this happened." And what of Wrigley? "I yelled at him," Holland said. "But I didn't put him on waivers."

Good sense of humor, but bad luck. It will be interesting to see Texas this season. They have the makings of a very, very good team. I believe the hype.

Losing Holland for that team will hurt.... Someone will have to pick up the slack..... if the O can actually get going.....
