Report: Lions want to hire Ken Whisenhunt

10:05 AM ET 01.12 | NFL.com and CBS Sports both reported that the Lions could move quickly to wrap up Chargers OC Ken Whisenhunt as soon as the Chargers are out of the playoffs. Whisenhunt, 51, will face the Broncos in an AFC Divisional playoff game Sunday afternoon. He interviewed with the Lions on Thursday, Titans on Friday and Browns on Saturday.

The thing is a newbie could get ate up by that group. I agree that it is a good hire. They need a guy with some years and a few scars on him.

A retread, yeah... but Whisenhunt does have experience as a HC, and he did manage to get the Cards to a Super Bowl; he brings a level of credibility with him, and a locker room like Detroit's might appreciate/respect that experience. Plus with all the pieces Detroit already has in place, I doubt they would want to turn everything over to a relative newbie.

Lions , Titans and Browns? If he has any choice, the Lions offer the best chance for success.
