10:18 AM ET 01.12 | If his appeal to a federal court does not work out and Alex Rodriguez still wants to play baseball in 2014, he does have an option, and he would not have to go very far. The Long Island Ducks are leaving the door open. "While some MLB suspensions have been honored by the Atlantic League in the past, if Alex Rodriguez were unable to participate in the major leagues this season, we would be open to exploring giving him a chance to play, stay sharp and compete against a high level of competition while helping the Ducks chase a third consecutive championship," Ducks president Michael Pfaff said Saturday in an email. To join the Ducks or any other team, however, it's likely that A-Rod would have to get the Yankees' permission.

Nope. Ignoring issues doesn't make them go away.

I may be wrong, but when two parties go to arbitration isn't the result supposed to be final. I don't remember if the word binding was included. A-roid got the 211 game suspension reduced to 162. Now Aroid is still not satisfied and now wants to go to court. A-roid should **** up and count his blessings he got the 50 game reduction. If Bosch testifies for MLB and under oath gives same testimony he did on 60 minutes if he does A-roid is toast.

It is so hard to feel sympathy for ARod but this was a Kangaroo court. And to say that his 211 game suspension was "reduced" conveniently overlooks that it was MLB's intent all along to suspend him through the 214 season. MLB got what they wanted. Plus, the Yankees were able to use him for an unsuccessful late season playoff push in 2013. The guy is an unsympathetic phony but ARod has never tested positive. He will win in a real court.

It's not LIKELY that he has to get permission from the Yanks as the article states. He DOES HAVE TO get permission, no doubt about it. This was discussed in great length on the MLB Network yesterday.

Now that MLB's kangaroo court has exhausted all its (bogus) due processes Alex will have his day in a REALcourtroom and he will be the starting 3rd baseman for the Yankees on opening day

The court system seldom interferes with Arbitration both parties (MLB and the MLBPA) have agreed to.

ARod can come play on my daughter's ASA team, he'll just have to switch to estrogen.
They get to wear cute little shorts and stripety socks, he'll LOVE it!!!

pretty clever of the long island ducks owner to do this since regardless of what happens he got some free publicity. all the minor league owners do this sort of thing... it is the nature of the business. why not be the "Brad Benson" of the cactus league or whatever they call themselves.
