Pacers' ploy with blocking Bynum

07:29 AM ET 01.13 | Since his release, Andrew Bynum hasn't taken a direct route to his third team in as many weeks. Teams with a known interest, sources said, include Dallas and New York, but both of those suitors, like the Clippers, are restricted to offering a minimum salary. Bynum, meanwhile, is said to be looking for an offer above the league minimum to recoup more of the $6 million he lost when Chicago waived Bynum. ... Sources said Sunday that the Indiana Pacers are also among the original eight teams to have expressed exploratory interest in Bynum, but it remains to be seen whether Indy's involvement progresses to the point of a formal offer. Sources say the Pacers, to this point, have not made an official offer and are interested in Bynum more as a measure to keep him away from Miami.

actually no...you still don't know my motives.
What I was always gonna say is that this simply shows that even with Hibbert the pacers don't think they are good enough to beat the heat....
Afraid the heat could get Bynum?
And they have superstar 7'2 Hibbert whom nobody can guard?
Pacers are showing fear already!

Smart move Indiana. I doubt they pay him what he wants but this is brilliant move just to keep him away from the competition

Byrd, McHale,Parish.....
he scored 60 on em, he never backed down,he welcomed competition.
Now these days guys with stacked teams are afraid of other teams?

No team is even as close to as stacked as the heat. None. Indiana is doing the right thing by trying to keep Bynum away. Bynum isn't great but he helps the heat overcome their one Achilles heel, rebounding. By putting Bynum and Hibbert out at once, they'd own the rebounds. It's a smart move. You can't really call it cowardly when your team is pretty much compromised of all stars who joined together for the easy way to a ring.

Can't talk about what jordan would do in comparison to the heat. Jordan wouldn't have tucked his tail between his legs and ran off to join the competition, which he COULD have. I'm not knocking the heat, just saying the heat are the one team who have no right to

A) talk about what jordan would have done
B) complain about flopping or the refs
C) cry about a team picking up a player to beat them to the punch

my team compromised?
I knew you'd say that, when in actuality your team had all star teams for years. After winning the title way back when, you miraculously got Worthy.
The celtics too always had stacked teams, so don't tell me about teaming up.
The lakers & celtics invented the term. Ain't my fault they both suck now.

not complaining.
the pacers are afraid the heat are not, and you are a hypocrite. your team always had the players.

Drafting an all-star team and picking up one free agent all-star is different than a group of all-stars getting together during all-star weekend and saying "why don't we team up?".

You can complain about the celtics and lakers but when is the last time that either franchise got 3 max players coming to them in free agency in one year? Don't bother looking because it never has happened. Besides, the world was a different place in 1980 than it is today. This is the era of parity in pro sports, that was the era of 2 teams the NBA pushed hard for a decade for ratings since their ratings were SO BAD before them that they were often on tape delay.

I'm not bashing your team, i'm just saying i agree with the move by IND and that the heat are stacked enough as it is so you can't let them get even a crumb of help if you can help it.

Hypocrite? If i was a hypocrite D, i wouldn't have pushed for the lockout to add a hard cap. I said 100x during my preaching about the hard cap that MY LAKERS would be the worst hit team of all, but that the good of the sport > the good of my team

so the pacers aren't evenly stacked?
Granger comes off the bench!
They have the biggest center in the league!
PG is a beast, West has muscles in his ears!

They are a good team that gels well together, but come on bro, we both know that they have no player worth the max outside of maybe Hibbert. They are a great team, but they aren't great talent. They just do a great job of playing within their ability. I think MIA still wins the east and the ring D, but i don't have a problem with this move by IND. It's a bit sly, no doubt about it, but it is what it is man and the heat would do the same thing in their shoes because it's the right move. It may not help the pacers get much better but stopping the heat from improving even 1% has to be a priority for them
