07:34 AM ET 01.14 | In the end, Derek Holland's dog may determine Masahiro Tanaka's future. The Rangers suddenly face a serious void in their starting rotation, just as bidding for [Tanaka] -- who is coveted by the Yankees -- enters its final two weeks. Tanaka was reported to have returned to Japan this weekend after meeting in Los Angeles with representatives from an array of big league clubs. The Yankees, as well as the L.A.-based Dodgers and Angels, are regarded as the favorites to land [Tanaka]. ... But the Rangers, who made Shin-Soo Choo their big-ticket offseason acquisition and have Japanese stud Yu Darvish at the top of their rotation, have an affinity for Tanaka, deep pockets and now a pressing need for a front-end starter. Those are potential ingredients for a late-breaking candidate to snare Tanaka away from the Yankees.

Love the NY Post and their laughable prognostications.

The Rangers have made it clear they aren't spending that much more above their salary structure. He ain't coming here.

Well ... the Rangers said they would not be seeking a F/A to fill the role in the starting rotation, I also know they said they weren't interested in Cliff Lee when they eventually picked him up from Seattle ... so while I normally would not agree with the Stupid Moron, I have to admit I would not be surprised to see the Rangers jump in at the last minute ...

the win now at all cost mentality that permeates the MLB (most squads anyway) has an overbearing presence and makes teams do stupid things ... (Fielder, Parks, Youk, Muck Fanny, the entire Dodgers team, etc, etc)
