A million reasons Titans beat Lions for Whiz

07:27 AM ET 01.15 | In the end, the situation appealed more to Ken Whisenhunt than Detroit, which according to reports could have been his job for the taking. [Whisenhunt] might like Nashville. He might like the Tennessee Titans' roster. And he might have hit it off with Ruston Webster. But in choosing the Titans over the Detroit Lions and becoming Tennessee's new head coach, Whisenhunt got $1 million more in annual salary than what Detroit offered, according to a source familiar with the offers. Some Titans critics tend to regard the team as cheap. It's not a reasonable stance given they spent big to re-sign Chris Johnson in 2011 and they doled out over $100 million in free-agent contracts last year. This is yet another bit of evidence that the Titans are willing to spend.

Amen Brutha.

The most important reason is that it's not Detroit.

Not at all. He also had to think of what was best for his family.

Detroit is 82% Black vs Nashville at 25%. Discuss.

He prefers Country to Rap?

I've got a friend who says he tunes in Sunday Night Football, watches the opening sequence and then turns it off.

After Faith left, I tried watching Carrie. Just wasn't the same.

Titans missed a bet. They should of offered him a million less cause he wouldn't have to go to Detroit.

Race had nothing to do with Whisenhunt's decisson, he is a grind em football guy, not an astroturf, indoor doom pretty boy type. Nashville is just a better football town, Detroit is a baseball town. Whisenhunt made the right choice

and what about the indoor astroturf in the middle of sunny arizona? Solid points.

Titans overpay on coaches, no suprise that this T and R comes up. Add in Titans cap space and lack of identity makes for a good fit for a coach looking to leave his mark. Not to mention a weak division (sorry Mick)

Yeah, from what I gather Detroit is the butt of America.
I just hope it has no ironic bearing being so close to Canada.

Yeah Canada is a pretty beautiful country. Had the chance to travel across it last year and the people I met along the way made it worthwhile.
In hindsight I also don't know why your comment made me share that lol

One reason this issue continues to be an issue is that some people jump up and down and refuse to have a reasonable, logical and well-reasoned discussion.

We did a week-long camping trip in Nova Scotia a few years back. It was great. It just seemed more relaxed than the US.

Nova Scotia is nice all around, good mix of nature and cities/towns. Not much hunting done in the area too so if you go out camping you don't have to bring the orange jacket.
Newfoundland/Labrador are also pretty neat places to camp/visit if you ever get the chance.
