Smith: 'There's no point in me being here'

07:34 AM ET 01.15 | These are strange days for J.R. Smith, who in Charlotte was kept on the bench by Mike Woodson for the second time in four games. "I'm not even commenting on J.R.," Woodson said gruffly after the game. "I just didn't play him tonight. I didn't play him." Woodson also declined comment when asked later if Smith would play Thursday in Indiana, but the timing certainly seemed odd -- even for this ongoing, sideshow storyline. Smith had totaled 52 minutes and scored 24 points over the previous two games. ... "I stopped being surprised after the Miami game," Smith said, adding Woodson gave him "no reason" for his latest benching and didn't tell him he wouldn't play before the game began. "I haven't the slightest clue (what's going on). ... If I'm not helping the team, there's no point in me being here."

He couldnt be traded until 1/15. I think they have a trade and they didnt want him to get hurt.

I doubt anyone wants JR at this point. He's made himself look bad this year.

I'd imagine he Knicks would be happy for his agent to find a willing trade partner. Maybe the NBDL?

This guy is done. Next step is for management to tell him to stay home ala Marbury.

The Lakers should pick up JR to replace Kobe until he return from his latest injury.

There are TONZ of bone headed GMs out there. I'm fairly sure they have a deal in place, and just biding time till 15th.

IDK about that, while i fully agree there are a lot of dumb GM's, this would be career suicide

"There's no point in my being here"

Now, when he says that... does he mean with NY or with the entire NBA? He really overestimates his worth
