Nats-Zimmerman talks far apart
Brodie Van Wagenen, Ryan Zimmerman's agent, met with Nationals President Stan Kasten and General Manager Jim Bowden on Thursday, and both sides -- while quick to point out the positive relationship that exists between them -- now acknowledge the gap between their respective positions is too wide to bridge.

WHY would you not make the deal with Z-man? He's the team? Young the closest thing to local hero-- VA BEACH NATIVE--WHY WOULD THE NATS let him go?

If you're Zimmerman, why would you sign with these losers if you can make the same money somewhere else?

All right, once AGAIN it's time for the "truth squad" on here:
1) The Nats have Zimmerman's rights until 2011. So, he's NOT going anywhere any time soon.
2) He's eligible for arbritration after this year. For NOW, his salary gets renewed on a year-by-year basis. Once he hits arbritration, he'll get SOME of the money he deserves.
3) EVERYBODY--Bowden, ZIm's agent, even Ryan himself--wants Ryan to be here in Washington. Granted, he's NOT gonna get Ovechkin money...but, he'll get what's fair.
I wasn't worried about Ovechkin getting HIS money, and I'm not worried here. Read my cyber-lips CAREFULLY: Ryan Zimmerman is NOT leaving Washington. End of statement.

sounds like Zimmerman wants the Nats to force a trade. If not now, maybe before the trade deadline... too bad they probably won't oblige him.
