02:31 PM ET 01.16 | To be a successful professional athlete, you need to have a certain amount of confidence in yourself to go up against the very best that your sport has to offer on a week-to-week basis. Because of that, we often see plenty of athletes come across as "cocky" or "arrogant," but most back up their talk with their play. Then, there is Washington Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall. Despite ranking among the worst cornerbacks in the league - ProFootballFocus.com ranked Hall 84th out of 110 cornerbacks - Hall does as much talking as anyone in the NFL. Recently, Hall discussed where he ranked among NFL cornerbacks and he believes that he is better than anyone in the league - including Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman, who many consider the best. Sure, Hall's confidence is admirable, but his comments are laughable. You could ask any NFL reporter or analyst who the top cornerbacks in the league are and virtually no one would name Hall.

Really?

Eli said he was elite and won some Super Bowls without really being elite. There might be something to to this positive affirmation stuff.

Who knew that Stuart Smalley is on the Redskins' roster?

This is just like Sherman couple years back... It might work for Hall, however he has a whole of convincing to do on the rest of the world...

Difference is Sherman is 25. Whatever he said a few years back, he was still young and improving.

DeAngelo Hall is 30. It's all downhill from here for him.

DeAngelo Hall could chew off 3 of his legs and he'd still be stuck in the trap.

It seems to be a common trait in the NFC East.

LOL!!! Good one.

He's always thought that, what else is new...

January 17, 2014  09:58 AM ET

He probably also thinks that Jay Gruden is the answer in Washington.

I disagree. Good Eli is elite. Bad Eli is worse than Gus Frerotte ... though Eli knows not to celebrate by ramming your head into a wall.

In all fairness though I honestly think Jay Gruden will get a lot better production out of RGIII then Shanahan did.

Is MeAngelo trying to Jedi mind-trick Bruce Allen into keeping him around a little longer?

January 17, 2014  04:11 PM ET

And he's the only one in the NFL that thinks he's the best CB.
