Ex-Celtic on Sac-Town: 'Slap in the face'

07:32 AM ET 01.17 | The man they call Crash, a nickname earned over a veteran's career in the NBA, Gerald Wallace is showing some signs of wear -- on his psyche. [Wallace is] playing the fewest minutes since his late teens at the end of Sacramento's bench, and the unspent energy keeps him up late after games. "You're sitting, only playing 17 or 18 minutes a game," Wallace said. "You're watching, you know you can still play, and you watch guys in front of you who don't play with effort, don't respect the game and don't think team first." ... His pride, his identity as the one Charlotte fans nicknamed Crash, has been insulted. "This season is a slap in the face, having to change my game and fine-tune it," he said. "First of all, it has to come mentally. You accept your situation, but there's two sides to your brain."

The Goal Is To Tank, Bro.

Sac, who signs with this team and why? Must be that fresh farm smell of cow dung.

January 17, 2014  08:42 AM ET

Wait, what?
Was he traded to sac?

January 17, 2014  08:48 AM ET

Wait, what? Was he traded to sac?

I'm pretty sure that he was.....

January 17, 2014  08:50 AM ET

No more crash.

January 17, 2014  08:50 AM ET

Seems like every time this guy opens his mouth he is whining about his teammates. He should focus on himself and be humble.

January 17, 2014  08:51 AM ET

OK....he did not sign with the Kings.....nor was he traded by Boston.

Looks to me like he's trying to get waived, though.

January 17, 2014  08:51 AM ET

I'm pretty sure that he was.....

I know Crawford was traded.....
Haven't seen Wallace has...

January 17, 2014  08:51 AM ET

No more crash.

The crash happened and we are on the burn side of the Crash and Burn now.

January 17, 2014  09:07 AM ET

I'm pretty sure that he was.....

Nope. He is still a Celtic.

January 17, 2014  09:38 AM ET

Your a seasoned veteran playing with everything non-veteran. Your best place is with a veteran team and players. Ask for a trade!

January 17, 2014  10:24 AM ET

Did he just put guys down for not playing team-first basketball?!
Is the irony complex turned off for NBA players this week? First Melo saying the Pacers are stopping everything the team does and then lists off all the things hes been stopped on.
Then Gerald Wallace talking about team-first basketball! Wow!
I knew from Kevin Durants twitter that they were smoking something but they should ask J.R to water it down with something first.

Maybe if he kept his mouth shut, it would be easier to trade him. The Celts OBVIOUSLY dont want him but had to take on his RIDICULOUS contract as part of the KG and Pauly trade. You're not in our future plans!!! I'm sure Danny Ainge is dying trying to trade you! So be a professional, a veteran, that does what the team needs and maybe, just maybe, some other team will see value in you still so we can trade your a** out of here!!!!

January 17, 2014  10:59 AM ET

Wait. He says this season is a "slap in the face" - he plays for Boston. Yet this somehow is a slap in the face to Sacramento, where he has not played since 2004?

Once again, the Excellence in Headline Writing Award goes to... Fannation Intern

When?I know Crawford was traded.....Haven't seen Wallace has...

My initial response was a 'horse-before-the-cart' response.

I 'assumed' (erroneously) based on the topic title ("Ex-Celt....", that Wallace was now back with Sac.

I knew that he had not been released by Boston.

So, the obvious conclusion was the he had to have been traded.

But again.....I messed up by going off the wording in the title.

January 17, 2014  01:04 PM ET

It's 2014, but his pride is telling him it's 2005

January 17, 2014  01:51 PM ET

I'm sorry, but who are you Gerald Wallace and what have you done since you got to the NBA?

January 17, 2014  02:45 PM ET

No one avoids aging... Boston to building for the future...

January 17, 2014  03:35 PM ET

Terrible Subject line... He's calling his current situation a slap in the face, and compares it to when he was young. Turrible turrible turrbile.
