07:46 AM ET 01.17 | Martin Hanzal recorded a hat trick, of sorts, in Phoenix -- though congratulations aren't in order. [Hanzal's] stick work left a trio of Vancouver Canucks' players in pain and injured in the third period of Thursday's game. The struggling Canucks lost 1-0, but had three players -- Mike Santorelli, Henrik Sedin and finally David Booth -- hurting after three separate incidents. According to Brad Ziemer of the Vancouver Sun, Santorelli was seen afterward with his right arm in a sling. Hanzal received a double-minor for high sticking when he caught Booth with a cross check up high in the face late in the third period. Booth was sent to the ice and was shaken up on the play. Could Hanzal now face the league's Department of Player Safety and possible supplemental discipline? There was the suggestion that he could.

I don't know about "highly skilled" anymore, looks to me like they've got two fading stars in the Sedins, an inconsitent Kesler, and then what? A bunch of grinders, some of whom just got Hanzaled. Not good.

This is shocking to me. What is the Hockey World coming to? Somebody taking out players with slashes and dirty hits and they don't play for the Pens, Flyers or Bruins. How can that be?

Not that I watched as I was too busy watching the great PK Chelios score a nice one to beat Ottawa as well as Kings-Blues.

But this Hanzal guy could well now be my favourite player in the league....

I had a gig. When I left, it was still 0-0 with about 8 minutes to go.
by the time I got from east side to Penn Station, the fans were starting to get into the station to get home.
Fo the uninitiated, MSG is right above Penn Station
