No. 1 player on the trade market

07:46 AM ET 01.17 | Nearly a year since he signed an offer sheet with Calgary, before the Avalanche matched, Ryan O'Reilly may still be headed out of town. That is when the Avalanche -- if they so desire -- have the availability to move him in a trade. They've been restricted and haven't been able to do that up until now. ... So many teams are keeping an eye on what the Avs are going to do with O'Reilly. If he's made available, to me he's a number one player on the trade market. So many teams could use him and one of those teams that covet him -- I believe -- are the Vancouver Canucks. I would put him at the top of their list, he fits all their needs in terms of finding another centre and they have an abundance of defencemen, which is something Colorado would want to have back in a trade.

No reason to trade him. I keep him over Stastny every time.

and besides, what would vancouver need him for? They seem to be in free fall right now.

Pretty sure Feaster signed him already in Calgary...............sigh

This guy is an RFA, Cannots have their D-Men locked up long term. Who would they flip? Tanev, Weber or Alberts? Doubt anyone wants them.

Come to NY.

Last 3 games, 2 goals scored, 11 goals given up.

Edler.

Seems to me they would be more likely to move the guy to and Eastern Conference team. Letang for O'Reilly.

Agreed. But I wouldn't be suprised if the Avs keep him.

Agreed. I don't know where this rumor comes from. The only reason I can see him being traded is if he said some nasty things about Roy's wife.

Yeah, and I don't think Letang is going anywhere either, but I can dream.

Looks like Gary Bettman is making a case for NHL expansion to Portland.

January 17, 2014  10:42 AM ET

They have to try to keep Portland weird? In Pittsburgh it just comes natural.

Kadri + Reimer to Avs for O'Reilly. Avs get younger backup to Varlamov and replace some scoring lost at the centre position with Kadri.

O'Reilly would look great between Lupul and Clarkson.

Edler, Bieksa, Hamhius and Garrison all have NTC's

It's funny how once his offensive production falls off suddenly people realize they are a defensive liability. Such is the life of those PP Subban types.

Anyhow, nice cough up of the puck my LeTang the other night. Funny thing is, if the lazy Russian actually doesnt quit skating back, he catches the eventual goal scorer.
