Adelman to Wolves: stop pretending you're a playoff team

12:51 PM ET 01.18 | The Minnesota Timberwolves suffered through another devastating, albeit hopeful, season last year. But while 2013-14 was supposed to be a step forward, the team has started to regress. This has caused tension between Kevin Love and the rest of the team and now head coach Rick Adelman is at the end of his rope as well. Adelman told his team to stop pretending like they're a playoff team. The season isn't even to the All-Star Break yet, so to write the Wolves off now is a silly notion. Adelman isn't telling the team to pack it in, rather he sees a team with a ton of talent that seems to think they can coast through the regular season when they've earned no such respect.

The Wolves have some talent but are really not more than possibly an eighth seed.

The wolves are in a distressed.. Love wants out.

Great job inspiring confidence, coach.

Right. Face reality and go ahead and trade K. Love to the Lakers...

Maybe the coach needs a change thought? Noting like telling your team they are a bunch of losers??? I am beginning to think that time and schemes have passed Adelman...

They need a coach who can teach them how to play defence. Thibs should abandon the sinking ship in Chicago and make something of the talent they have in Minnesota.

Love is leaving. What's the point of going to Minnie w/o him?

Where have you been Dude? The FN Universe has been out of balance!

The Twolves simply are losers to their core.

When you have missed the NBA playoffs for near a decade losing gets ingrained into who they are.

they need a special player to go there and pull them outta this- because right now- over the last decade- they might be the worst franchise in american pro sports

QUOTE(#13):

Apart from the obvious superstars like Lebron and Howard, solid big white men have been among the most sought-after players in the league over the past few years. You have players like Pau and Marc Gasol, Dirk Nowitzki, David Lee, Andrew Bogut, Omer Asik, and now Kevin Love.

Players aren't pursued because of skin color. I can't figure out how or why you think it applies. You could have left the word "white" out of your comment and it would have been spot on.

Just seeing the opportunities that damaged players like Bynum and Oden still get proves it's about size and not skin color. There are always opportunities for 7 footers in the NBA.

It's a tough year for the wolves, as last year was nearly a complete waste with all the injuries. They are still working at getting on the same page. But not knowing your role or not at the point at which they are all on the same page is no excuse for coasting. RA was right to call them out, and hopefully this will get some positive results.
