NFL looking into Niners' sideline behavior

07:34 AM ET 01.20 | What was going on out there? The NFL is expected to look into an incident along the 49ers sideline in the first half in which Seattle's Jeremy Lane was hit after going out of bounds while covering a punt. Lane was driven out of bounds and continued to run through the San Francisco team when a member of the 49ers team dressed in a warmup suit collided with Lane. The person on the 49ers sideline appeared to lean into Lane as they collided. The play was reminiscent of when members of the New York Jets, led by former strength and conditioning coach Sal Alosi, interfered with Miami Dolphins coverage man Nolan Carroll. Alosi was fined $25,000 by the NFL and was suspended for the remainder of the season. The Jets were eventually fined $100,000.

Sideline shenanigans? Apparently this is the year for that sort of thing. Right Mike?

January 20, 2014  07:55 AM ET

Might be hard to find 49er players... Scattered here and there.

January 20, 2014  08:01 AM ET

Warmup suit found a way to get in the game

January 20, 2014  08:15 AM ET

If you continue to run, it's up to you to avoid hitting people. Walk.

January 20, 2014  08:37 AM ET

Hope the NFL does the right thing and fine the 49'ers

January 20, 2014  08:40 AM ET

The NFL needs to fine the officials as well.............

January 20, 2014  08:45 AM ET

How about finding out why the roughing the kicker was a 5 yard penalty instead of a 15!! They nearly broke the guys ankle! That would have been a first down for the 49rs and would have possibly been points for them vs 7 points for Seattle. Hate it when Refs dictate the direction of a game like that!!

How is it even running into the kicker when the guy rolled into the punter while on the turf?

As if the Peahawks don't do similar things. Please. They are reincarnations of the Oakland Raiders of the 70s.

Then it is rolling into the punter........

Two yard penalty and a three dollar fine....

January 20, 2014  09:08 AM ET

To me it was a sad day for the NFL bragging about having their all-star officials work the NFC Championship game with all of the BOOK RULE calls they miss during the game.

January 20, 2014  09:19 AM ET

You will not found out anyone willing to get out of your way on the opposing side and if I were seeing a man of his side running into me, I would lean into him and brace for the hit myself, not to try and injure him but to protect myself. Screw the rule, the NFL needs to look more at the rules regarding replays where they screwed the 49ers out of a turnover....let's call this one even.

Ya make contact with a kickers plant leg and you were not pushed in to him then it is 15 yards and first down. No subjectivity to it at all. The ref made the wrong call. Only subjective call on contact is with the kicking leg.

In 24 hours the league will issue a statement saying they made the wrong call. Happens every week.

It was more like " The year in review" for officiating. Fitting.

January 20, 2014  09:33 AM ET

I loathe the Niners... and am happy for their demise.

However...

Seahawks fans no longer have the right to cry about getting screwed by the ref's in Super Bowl XL. That imagined debt has been repaid in spades.

January 20, 2014  09:44 AM ET

Typical Roger Goodell Propaganda. In a game that was terribly officiated they are concentrating on this.?

Maybe the Seattle defender should have never run out of bounds. He runs into an assistant, the assistant reacts and they are worried about the assistant.

What about the bogus Unnecessary Roughness calls against Whitner and Rodgers.

January 20, 2014  09:49 AM ET

What about all the Seahawk players that were standing in the White ZOne when Carlos Rogers pushed a WR out of bounds and they called Unnecessary Roughness on an incomplete pass, to cover their biased penalty calling, the 49ers still got the ball on downs because they then later declared it happened after the pass was deflected . Please NFL your bipolar referees are starting to make these games appear to be scripted by referees bad calls.

January 20, 2014  10:00 AM ET

When Mike Peirera and the FOX trolls Buck and Aikman are continually saying that the Referees blew this call, or missed that call, and all the bad and missed calls all favor Seattle. Time to send in the FBI to investigate Goodell and his Referee henchmen. This smells really bad of point shaving and setting, referees determining the outcome of a game.

Fans throwing food and drink at Bowman as he his carted off the field.

Goodell, FOX, ESPN, NFL Network all think Richard Sherman is a positive role model in the NFL. Let me tell Sherman, Martin Luther King is rolling over in his grave because of your after game rants .

January 20, 2014  10:01 AM ET

I was cheering for Seattle because 49ers were there last year and Harbaugh has become a big time whiner.

However after Sherman's rant and choke signal to the 49ers bench I see how classless he represents the hawks. Hope he is fined but hard to fix stupid even with duct tape

Goodell is the worst NFL Commissioner in League history.

I guarantee you that the NFL will not correct the poor officiating. They will offer a weak white wash of the rules .

Get with the modern world NFL. You need a referee in the broadcasting trailer that can view 10 different camera angles.

Roughing the kicker, not giving Bowman the recovered fumble at the 1 yard line. These were 2 of the 5 or 6 horrendous calls made/ or not made by the referees.
