07:50 AM ET 01.20 | Reds fans may soon find out that their team has landed a big-name player. The problem is the guy with the big name -- outfielder Grady Sizemore -- hasn't played since 2011 and has only played in 104 games since 2009. Reds general manager Walt Jocketty confirmed that the Reds are in discussions with Sizemore and could have a deal shortly. "We've been talking," Jocketty said. "Some details have to be worked out. We hope to get something done next week. We're getting close to spring training." Sizemore's agent, Joe Orbon, confirmed the talks were progressing. Jocketty said the Reds have discussed both minor- and major-league deals. Signing Sizemore, 31, would be a classic low-risk, high-reward move. The money won't be much -- and if Sizemore can return to form, or even close to it, he'd be a huge asset to the Reds.

He'll need some help from the next Anthony Bosch.

He must have a great agent. It's amazing how he can keep convincing teams each year to give him more money.

It is beginning to look like Jocketty is desperate to make some of kind of off season move to help his club, since the Cardinals have made moves to upgrade their ball club.

Are they in the running for Chone Figgins too? This is the best Jock can do? Wow.

I thought maybe DH'ing for a team like the M's might be a better move because of his bad knees and back.
