Make-or-break stretch for Cavs

07:39 AM ET 01.20 | In 2013-14, the Eastern Conference has a way of letting teams hang around. As rocky as this season began, even though the Cavaliers are still just 15-25 after what is universally being hailed as a successful West Coast road trip, they still have a chance. They still are just two games away from the No. 8 seed [in the Conference]. ... Take into account that the Cavaliers begin a five-game homestand Monday against Dallas, that Luol Deng will play at The Q for the first time since Cleveland's Jan. 7 trade, that the squad seems to have evened out its play since the arrival of the new small forward, and it might explain the reason for the Cavaliers glass-half-full approach. "We haven't even reached the All-Star break yet, and we've been so many different routes," [Cavaliers guard C.J. Miles] said.

On many levels its make or break.
Its time to start trimming the the fat and concentrating on players that can play....not 'developing' anymore.
Are they a team that wants to compete or a team that wants to keep waiting, drafting?

In this weak east.....GO FOR IT
Get some experience of a playoff push

The Cavs are kicking butt since Deng arrived. They are on track to make the playoffs now.

Why make the playoffs and get knocked out the first round ??

That is the worst place to be.

Tank and stockpile picks..........

Because they have done that for 3 years and it's time to start teaching the young guys how to fight and win. Until you test drive then under pressure you won't really know who is a gamer and who needs to be upgraded.

Deng is a great piece and now that they have him they need to go up not down. The Cavs have enough assets still to keep improving so why not o for it now.

Beore the Deng deal I thought they should tank also. Now with Deng they should go for it.

I like Rondo a lot. He's a gamer. I would take Rondo over most other point guards including DWill because he is a winner.

Not without Pat Riley's permission.

Outside of Indiana and Miami, the East is littered with trash squads! I mean, it's absolutely ridiculous to have professional teams that cannot play the game. It's laughable!

Now that's really going out on a limb there, gutsy comment!
