Big-market feeding frenzy for Flames forward

07:58 AM ET 01.20 | If Mike Cammalleri is considering putting down roots in Calgary, he may want to think twice. He is most likely on the move. With the NHL trade deadline set for March 5, many league executives view the 31-year-old Cammalleri as one of the most attractive options available for teams that want a forward who can make an impact. Making $6 million in the final year of his contract, he's coveted by several teams and we're told Flames president of hockey operations Brian Burke has been getting phone calls from contenders who are willing to ante up to get Cammalleri. Sources say the Los Angeles Kings, Vancouver Canucks and Detroit Red Wings all have an interest in Cammalleri. It's believed Kings coach Darryl Sutter and Detroit's Mike Babcock would both welcome him.

Big Market Feeding Frenzy for Flames Forward. Now there is a tongue twister if I ever heard one.

I still think it<s a shame he didn't work out in Montreal. I really wanted to see him do good here.

As if "Mike Cammalleri" wasn't enough of a tongue twister by itself.

Second that.

Sure, Detroit. They've got plenty of cap space and haven't had any problems with a glut of forwards this year. Really I like Cammalleri, have wanted him on the Wings previously, but unless Calgary takes something like Samuelsson and Cleary it's not going to happen.

What, having referees win games for you isn't enough?

Cammalleri wont be taken on by DET until he passes the skills test.

You know, the one where you shoot the puck 50 feet up over the net, bounce it off the protective netting, and ricochet it off the opposing goalie's back for the game tying goal.

That test.

Well, with BB's insatiable thirst for testicular fortitude, we'll send him Dan Cleary AND Todd Bertuzzi. ;-)

LOL - nasty . When Bert was in Calgary before he was a completely useless and out of shape piece of meat

Camalleri is the most under-rated player in the League - about 10 years running. Calgary should keep him, and play the draft game. Get rid of BB before he utterly ruins what looks to be a promissing team. Really just need one more rock-solid defenceman, and at least one more sniper - and a bit of patience. Colborne better learn to get that big frame of his up against someone occasionally, or he's bound for the minors. Checking is the name of the game - if you can't score. And even if you can.

Guess you missed the 'hide it my back pocket(?)' and back into the net ala Mike Smith of the Yotes.

Wouldn't that be something eh? He's been wasting time in Calgary, especially now that Kipper is gone. Those two goalies they got aren't bad, just need a team in front of them scoring more goals and staying on the plus sign in the coaches booklet of bad people for the day.......wait....is this the Flames or........yup its the Flames. Wasn't sure which team I was referring too. :)
