Is Indiana's AD on firing line?

Shortly after he announced the resignation of basketball coach Kelvin Sampson amid allegations of NCAA recruiting violations Friday night, Indiana University athletic director Rick Greenspan was asked whether his own job might be in peril. "I don't know that," Greenspan said at a news conference at Memorial Stadium. "Nobody's told me that." Greenspan, in his fourth season at IU, said he takes responsibility for the tumult in an athletic department that hasn't had a major NCAA violation since 1960. Sampson and the IU basketball program stand accused of potentially five such infractions. "I take responsibility for all the things that happen in the athletic department," Greenspan said. "I'm the athletic director." Among Greenspan's responsibilities described in his contract is "Assuring compliance by the department's coaches, staff and student athletes with NCAA . . . rules, regulations, and bylaws." The contract says Greenspan can be fired "for cause" if there's a "failure to perform the duties and responsibilities" described in the contract.

He bought a pig in a poke. So should get the axe too.

Rick Greenspan bought Kelvin Sampson in as head coach knowing that Sampson had issues at Oklahoma. He should be fired for what is going on at Indiana.

Introducing IU's new AD...Mr. Robert Knight!!!

Hey, Ricky, read the writing on the wall: Kelvin Sampson's problems are YOUR problems, ya idiot. Better buy your bus ticket.

He should be gone. He obviously isn't running the athletics program the way it should or he would have hired someone affiliated with Indiana to begin with. I'm sure he has been influenced by some of those Bob Knight haters that are still on the administration. I imagine he will be gone after the NCAA has their Kelvin Sampson review in May.

Speaking in reference to Knight. He revolutionized the way BB should be played. But as far as being an offensive coach. I was watching IU BB 20 years before Knight came and his knowledge of the game for the mindset of the times was great. The only trouble was he was to restrictive with ,who were the shooters, who was strictly role players. Good example Fife went to IU with a 30+ pts per game in Hi School & he was resstricted to filling a certain role Knights mindset with his philosophy towards the game let other Schools catch up .
You know when Knight went up against other good BB teams & they put a zone on IU. They only won approx. 37% of the time. This years IU team had multiple shooters and they felt comfortable to shoot when they wanted. They also knew how to attack a zone and played a very good zone.
There are over 100 colleges out in the country at this time that have broken the phone rule just like Sampson did; but nothing has been done. I recieved this information from two different small college coaches Sampson was wrong in letting this happen.

I don't get the deal with Kelvin. I really don't. After going through all this at Oklahoma, how do you allow everything to come up again?? But he did and now he's the Rick Neuheisal of basketball.

As far as the AD goes, as I recall, Indiana was having trouble finding anybody - anybody at all - to come take the HC job. So I'm not sure you can blame the AD for going with Kelvin...it was the only option he had.

Kelvin is still a good guy, but he's a complete idiot. He had no reason to cheat... it just doesn't make sense.

I'm undecided on Greenspan. I believe in redemption... but then again, that's what landed us Kelvin in the first place.

Greenspan needs to be shown the door just as fast as Sampson.
