07:25 AM ET 01.21 | One cannot teach height, and Kansas freshman center Joel Embiid is a 7-footer who is turning heads. Early in the year the thought was that Embiid could be drafted in The top 5 based on potential. He was expected to show flashes and put up numbers sporadically. But he has progressed much faster than anyone expected and in general has been an even bigger factor than [Andrew Wiggins]. He's also showing better consistency, a stronger motor and making more of an impact. Rumors began in the summer that Coach Self was calling Embiid and not Wiggins his best long-term prospect, though some felt that was a motivational ploy for Wiggins. Apparently not.... His ability to be a two way impact player puts him above Jabari Parker and No. 1 on our board.

Pretty much most of us pundits have been saying this for a month already about Wiggins
Though parker is the guy most think will go 1

This is Stern's last fix. Wiggins value will drop so the Mighty Raptors can draft him and he can come back home.

I've seen the rumor about Parker but not Wiggins. Thanks for the insight.

Who cares they tried to predict the draft the day after last years draft calling it the wiggins draft....ya cant judge a player without watching him play at a higher level, lets get into march before start trying to mock draft

We may as well be in March/April already. There are only 8 teams with a legit shot baring any huge trades.

That leaves 22 teams thinking about the draft and next year.

I don't think wiggins would stay - as his stock can only go lower
and as for parker-
he'll go as he likely is the #1 pick-
the family doens't want to get on coach rat K's bad side
as he thinks his sh___t don't stink and expects his guys to stay for his own benefit

There is nothing more that college can do for parker

Joel Embiid has really impressed me. He has a motor and he likes to get a little physical a little nasty streak which I actually like. He has not fully come into his own yet but he can be a major defensive presence in the NBA right now. He will probably be the first pick unless a team have a above average center. These guys are top 3-4 picks, Wiggins just doesn't have the aggressive trait yet has a lot of talent and needs to work on his jumper. I actually think his game will be better in the NBA when teams ask him to initiate offense. The rumors started before that Parker wasn't a one and done but I find it hard for a player to stay maybe he takes out an insurance on himself and stays.

Being the number 1 pick has more drawbacks than advantages, if you ask me. If I like a guy, I prefer he goes top 5, than one. So I hope Wiggins won't go number 1 - better for his motivation, mind set and career.

True but those young college players got a lot of time left I guess that's what I meant more so was that college players cant be worrying about the draft when they gotta finish out there year of college ball first and teams got a lot of time to be judging these players, lets see how they do when the pressure is on come tourney time

Thabeet impressed a lot of GMs also. What happened to him? I think drafting a big man that's not dominating offensively is a gamble. We've seen so many centers drafted high but didn't pan out.
