Henderson's career on the line at Senior Bowl

07:37 AM ET 01.21 | As a high school senior at Cretin-Derham Hall in the Twin Cities of Minnesota, big Seantrel Henderson, who now measures 6-foot-8 and nearly 350 pounds, was considered the top offensive football prospect in the nation -- and now he's a senior again, a college senior who will play in the Senior Bowl under different expectations. The oft-suspended Hurricanes right tackle possesses very good size and length. While he also has good agility, he is not technically sound as a run blocker or pass protector. Perhaps the biggest thing he needs to prove to scouts is increased maturity. The 2009 USA Today high school offensive player of the year can rise up draft boards if he shows that he's focused on becoming a better player and leader.

Is this the new Hollywood Henderson?

January 21, 2014  07:50 AM ET

After unofficial visits to Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan and Michigan State, he acknowledged that Michigan was his early favorite. In the summer of 2009, Henderson took unofficial visits to Florida State, Florida, Ohio State, Tennessee, Southern California and UCLA. At that point, Notre Dame, USC, Ohio State and Michigan were mentioned as leading contenders. Henderson's former Cretin-Derham Hall teammate Michael Floyd was playing for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Finally he announces he was going to Ohio State, but then he switches and says he's going to USC, but then Pete Crookednose does his "thing" and bolts so he bolts for Miami where we never hear from him again.

Dude we didn't care just make your mind up and get on with it. One of the more under-performing national high school players of the year that I have ever seen

He has size, but hasn't shown he has talent, desire, or maturity.
Third/fourth round pick and may not stick with any team unless he has a personality change.

Won't last the retirement minimum

Sounds like football's Andrew Bynum

The only thing I heard about him in Miami was being suspended several times. Not exactly a stellar career at the U.

The media places way too much emphasis on the Senior Bowl. Scouts won't ignore 3-4 years of film based on a single performance in a glorified scrimmage where the players fit within a structured environment. The best players, the ones whose talents shined playing outside of a structure (when a play broke down) aren't even in attendance.

The Senior Bowl is a revenue generator for the city of Mobile AL. That's all. Players don't move up or down the draft board based on the Senior Bowl, but it makes great press which makes great cat box liner.

Yeah, probably the only players that can change their position much are those that are considered not to have played against quality competition. Seeing how those compete against "more talented" competition are the only ones that the Senior Bowl can help/hurt.

Yep.

The NFL is all about structure ... you play within a structure on the field, you train within a structure, you eat sleep and travel within a structure ... you study the heck out of every opponent and every tendency within their structure ... and if you can't do that you won't last.

A little hypocritical? Perhaps.

Inaccurate? Not one bit.

Oh I'm just grumpy because Jerry Jones is at the Senior Bowl evaluating talent. Which means he'll draft 3rd round talent in the 1st round.
