07:38 AM ET 01.21 | Well, this should be, interesting. They missed the Polar Vortex over the weekend in Chicago and St. Louis, but the Ducks looked at the weather forecast upon arriving home and saw possible trouble ??? an expected high of 79 degrees in Los Angeles on Saturday. That night at 6:30, the Ducks and Kings play their NHL Stadium Series game at Dodger Stadium. "Kind of thought about it. ... I don't know what they're going to do if it stays this warm out. It's going to be something different," Ducks center Mathieu Perreault said Monday after the Ducks practiced for Tuesday's home game against the Winnipeg Jets. Game officials have expressed confidence the Dodger Stadium ice quality will be fine as temperatures decrease in the evening.

QUOTE(#1):

Maybe they shoulda went the ball hockey route...

They have set up a ball hockey area right next to the rink.

Oh, and there is also beach volleyball in the outfield.

*sigh*

Isn't this taking things just a tad too far??

The whole premise of the outdoor games was to get hockey back to its roots. I know I'm getting old but I just can't ever recall playing hockey on a pond when it was 80 (27C) outside.

Sand and ice. What could possibly go wrong?

People will tune into this game for the same reason they tune into World's Wildest Police Videos.

This could be the first time sunblock has ever been used at a hockey game.

Nice irony. They're playing hockey in California and football in New Jersey. Maybe they should have a new reality show: When Sports Executives Have Brain Farts. The first episode could feature the Phoenix Coyotes.

i totally disagree about the Super Bowl
It's an outdoor game. they should do with this like they do with the MLB all-star game...everyone gets one, and that's good.
Aww, the poor babies (and corporate shills) have to play and sit in cold weather...wah

Has an NHL player ever left a game due to heat stroke? (I'm not talking about the Oilers D getting burned every night.)

January 21, 2014  11:21 AM ET

this was a bad idea from the start, the only outdoor game should be the winter classic, DONT OVERDUE IT NHL!!!
