07:53 AM ET 01.22 | Currently on the outside looking in on the playoff picture, Phoenix is open to dealing. [The Coyotes] are looking to add a top-six forward by the March 5 trade deadline and seem to have set their sights on two veteran goal-scorers. According to multiple league sources, the Coyotes are among a long list of teams interested in Buffalo Sabres sniper Matt Moulson. The Coyotes are also interested in bringing Dallas Stars left wing Ray Whitney back to Arizona. Moulson, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent July 1, was acquired by the Sabres from the New York Islanders earlier in the season. Moulson has liked his time in Buffalo thus far and has expressed interest in re-signing with the Sabres, but it's strongly believed by a number of league sources that Buffalo will move him.

Of course they are. AZ is the second largest retirement home in the US.

Everyone wants a Moulson today

Sabres got lucking moving Vanek - if Matt doesn't want to sign, someone will over pay for him at the trade deadline. Kids no stiff either -- might haul in a first and a second draft pic plus a couple of decent prospects..

I think Garth was trying to surround JT with a better player.....either way the current line of KO, JT, TV is pretty dangerous.

Obviously he's mentally unstable.

Well, if we're going by their recent first round selections (Grigorenko, Joel Armia(?), Pysek, Myers) I would assume they're going to be bad for quite a few more years.

No more Regier to blame.

Dallas giving up its best player over 35?
Otis won't like this one bit...

I'd swap Moulson for Yuengling.

QUOTE(#5):

I'd say the Islanders overpaid, like I said when they made the initial deal, because they clearly aren't contenders and they clearly needed certain other pieces than a scoring winger that they already had. But Vanek is better than Moulson, and it seems the edict on LI is that in order for a player to want to stay there he must first be forced to play there and realize it's actually not that bad a place to live and play hockey, a la Nabokov. Then again, they did trade Nino Niederreiter for Cal freakin Clutterbuck...

From everything I've heard Vanek really likes Long Island. Garth better throw a Kessel-like deal TV's way or this trade will become a bust.

Saw an interesting stat last night....since Dec 17th, the top 3 scorers in the NHL are JT, Vanek and Okposo. They each had around 23-26 points.

BTW - that Nino trade was basically the Isles getting rid of a cancer who whined and cried and didn't earn a single shift for the Isles. I'll take Clutter's grit over Nino's primadonna ways anyday.

.....looking to add a top-six forward. If you deal with the Wings they throw in a free pair of crutches.

Justin Timberlake?

You sure that wasn't the top 3 listeners of Bono?

only 5 points out....miraculously.

And retired here I am. I always liked Ray, thought he should have been Captain of the Yotes. But a little long in the tooth now.
